    1. [OHADAMS-L] Regarding Maysville, Kentucky
    2. In a message dated 5/8/99 6:48:53 AM Pacific Daylight Time, OHADAMS-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: << Maysville is literally right across the river from Manchester, Adams County, OH. Before all the dams were built on the Ohio, you could walk across the river bottom. That is how the runaway slaves crossed the river to stations along the Underground Railroad in Adams and Brown Counties. Maysville would have been within walking distance from parts of Adams County. Cathy >> I asked because I had ancestors who lived in Adams County, Ohio help found the town of Maysville, Fountain County, Indiana..The Dunkin men..also believe they founded Dunkinsville, Adams County, Ohio...A Centennial Edition of Fountain Co history states that they came from Maysville, Kentucky...via the Ohio River then up the Wabash River ...so Maysville, Kentucky must have been where they bought their supplies! Thanks for the info! Darla Dunkin Ushler
