    1. [OHADAMS-L] John SWANGER as a Clue to John C. COOPER's Past

    3. Dear Researchers of Adams County, Ohio, First, I would like to give a BIG thank-you to Mary Swanger Courtemanche, List Member, for her response to my query regarding the MORRISONs and John C. COOPER, who lived in Eckmansville, Wayne Township, Adams County, Ohio! Now that I know that John SWANGER arrived in Wayne Township, Adams County, Ohio in 1846 or 1847, it lends much more weight to my previous surmise that John C. COOPER came to Adams County, Ohio from Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. The only John C. COOPER in the 1840 Census of Pennsylvania was the one in Mifflin County! Both John C. COOPER and John SWANGER were coopers [cask and barrel makers] by occupation. I will certainly study Mifflin County, Pennsylvania more closely now! Query to Adams County, Ohio researchers: Have you found any more arrivals from Mifflin County, Pennsylvania? Again, thank you for your help! Randal W. Cooper <rwcooper@kellnet.com> Lorain, Ohio
