Paula, I am not sure who you were writing to. If me (think I am the only one researching William Smith Dement) I have the following. James M. Dement (1790-1869) married Mary (Polly) Ellison daughter of Arthur Ellison and Sarah (Sally) (Smith) Ellison. James and Mary (Polly) married in Adams Co., Ohio 12, January 1815 by John Ellison. Their second child and first son was named William Smith Dement. The middle name Smith was his maternal grandmother's maiden name. If you find that your ancestor William Dement was the son of Andrew and Hannah Dement---let me know because I have all of that family group. Your (?)
