Mt Vernon "I hear Va Gov Lord Dunmore will grant patents for lands lying below the Scioto to officers and soldiers who will claim under the Proclaimation of 1763.I have, therefore,by this convayence, written to Captian [Thomas] Bullitt to desire he will have 10,000 acres surveyed for me-5,000 of which I am entitled to under my own right, and 5,000 acres of which I purchased from a Captain, and a LT. Washington desires it located not far below the Scioto,if good bottom lands were available, but even below the Falls,if necessary to get rich lands. 'I have understood Captain Thompson [Wm Barton's 1780 wil] has surveyed a good deal of land for Pa officers. Old David Wilper, who has been with Bullitt, tells me they have already discovered 4 salt springs in that country-3 of which Thompson included in his surveys etc etc etc. James and Jacob Sandusky-Sodowski, were with Capt Bullitt,in 1773,and again in 1774.
