I am looking for information on Daniel McCann in his early years. I also need to identify the ancestors of his father Arthur and identify the mother of his mother Barbary Smith, in addition to finding out where and when Arthur and Barbary died.. Daniel McCann was born January 26, 1816, Adams Co. OH to Arthur McCann and Barbary Smith, daughter of Stephen Smith. Arthur b. PA and Barbary b. MA lived in Scioto and Clinton Counties previously, may have moved to Gallatin Co. IL later on, and Barbary probably died in Scioto or Adams Co. possibly after 1853, staying with Smith or McCann family. They had 3 other children: Stephen Smith, Arthur, and Thomas. There are no records on Daniel until his marriage to Margaret LaPointe (Iowa Terr.) December 31, 1838. In the few years previous, Daniel probably lived in Dubuque, IA and worked the lead mines in Galena, IL. Cathryn
