Hi Wilma, I used to think the same thing. Since then, I learned that Adams Co was the main county at the time of the 1850 census, manchester was a major river port. Each twp. has about 40 pages of actual census pages at 40 lines each. it is a large census. The transcribed census that they are selling was transcribed back in the 1980's and it was done with out copiers or computers and was very time consuming. I do not know how they did it and not go nuts. I am transcribing the 1870 from copies/microfilm and using a computer and I have been forever on the first 5 twps. Just think ,they charged the same $10.00 back then, when $10.00 was worth $10.00. The volunteers at Adams Co. are happy to help you locate which twp. your family is from, so that you only buy the ones you really need. The CD from S & K publications is the whole county of the 1850 census. Scanned actual pages. Hope this helps!
