He married Anna Hawk, who died in 1829 in Adams County. I have no knowledge of any descendants. But I know a few things about his ancestors. He was born in 1765 as Henry Brower or Hendrick Brouwer in New York, and is descended from one of the first Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam (now New York City). Parents were Abraham Brouwer and Mary Wiltse/Wiltze (spelling variants exist -- don't sweat them. They were common among persons of Dutch and French Huguenot ancestry in New Amsterdam/New York in the presence of the English. BROUWER generally became BROWER or BREWER at the time of the American Revolution as the early Dutch and the English assimilated. He was a veteran of the Revolutionary War, according to the Daughters of the American Revolution, so anyone who can prove descent from him can claim him as a qualification for membership. Desendants could conceivably have taken the surname BREWER. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
