There are various twists on the story and it's difficult to say what is fact and what is fiction but it does seem plausible that Penelope did survive an Indian attack in what is now New Jersey ca. 1643. Also, if you have access to Heritage Quest, the computer based genealogical program, at your public library you will find several references to Penelope Stout in a number of books. Here's the children of Moses B. Stout b. 11/20/1829 and d. 6/12/1902 and his wife, Nancy Parker b. 3/4/1831 and d. 11/4/1906 (m. ca. 1853 in Adams Co., OH): 1.
