They lived in Adams County Ohio. His father died while he was young and his mother remarried but she soon died and his stepfather placed him in the children's home. I can only assume that the time frame was sometime between 1887 and 1900. He was rumored to have used his mother's maiden name of White at one point, but I don't know when.
