Many thanks to the Adams County Historical Society for the wonderful weekend of the Wilson Civil War Monument Rededication, June 13 and 14! Seeing and participating in reenactments of Civil War events was a fantastic way to live and learn about the lives of our Adams County ancestors. The events were planned and organized as a labor of love for their community and its past by Phil Hawkins and Ken Armstrong and many other current residents and businesses. The supportive Ohio Arts Council was well represented and some surrounding counties helped too. Keynote speaker Lester Horwitz, author of "The Longest Raid of the Civil War" and special local historian, Stephen Kelly, added the necessary touches of academic research to the events. The Adams County Genealogical Society members put in extra long hours at the Historical Museum helping visitors do research. >From the camp reenactment to the Ghost Walk at the cenetery to the gala at West Union High School to the parade and rededication ceremony, the whole weekend was well done and would provide an excellent example for others planning Ohio Bicentennial or reunion events. I traveled from Gulfport, Mississippi to West Union for the weekend. The friendly hospitality of the residents and businnesses provided me and others with wonderful memories of where our ancestors chose to live and prosper. Appreciatively, Muriel Everton descendant of Everton and Greenlee members of the 70th OVI
