    2. Pauli Smith
    3. Hi Joanne, I can't help you with the Smith's, that's my married name and my husband's family is all from PA. They never left there once they landed on dry land in the late 1600's. For the Crawfords: First of all I recommend that you try and find the following book, "The Crawfords of Adams County, OH" by H. Margaret Crawford PhD. The updated version was printed in 1976 in Poughkeepsie, NY No publisher's name. I think it was Self Published. There is an earlier version by her printed I think in the 1940's. I know several libraries in Ohio have the book, if you can't find it to buy. I know it is out of print. I searched all of my records and cannot find a M.A. Crawford b. abt 1818 in Ohio in my lines. As far as I can tell, there were 4 different distinct Crawford families in Adams county. The line I think your family may have come from arrived in the early 1800's from PA. Here is the quote from the book mentioned above. pg. 3 "Shortly after the end of the Revolutionary Was, Lieutenant John Crawford sold the family farm in Fayette Co. PA and settled on Iron Ridge, overlooking the Ohio River at the mouth of Brush Creek. He was the only son of Colonel William Crawford who was burned at the stake by the Indians in Sandusky County in 1782. John Crawford had married Frances Bradford in Pennsylvania and they had 7 children. 1. Moses Crawford. b. ca 1775, d. 1808 2. William Crawford b. 1776 d. 1840 He married Elizabeth Peterson, 7 Jun 1800 in Adams Co.and they had 5 children. He married 2nd. Jane Parcels in Butler Co., on June 24, 1822 and they had 2 children. 3. Hannah Pamelia Crawford died 1826 4. Richard Crawford, b. before 1782 d. 1822 He married Jennie Dickson, 17 July 1806 in Adams Co. and had 4 children. 5. Sarah Crawford, md. William Rowlands, 28 Feb. 1805 in Adams Co. 6. Mary Crawford married Thomas Cummings 7. George Washington Crawford b. 1790, d. 1871 He married Winnie Morrison 4 Dec 1817 in Lewis Co. KY. They had 13 children. John Crawford then married Effy Grimes on 30 Nov1797 in Adams Co. OH John, Effy, Hannah, Moses, George Washington and Winnie Crawford are all buried in the old Crawford cemetery on the Stephenson farm, east of Manchester." Of the 4 different Crawford families, this on seems the most likely as the others all arrived later or were born in Ireland in 1818. Hope this helps you, Pauli > > Do you know anything about an M. A.
