Bob Eubanks, Leesburg, FL The following is an excerpt from a book written by Mrs William John Gross, in 1941, titled "Glimpses of Parker-Knox-Paris Family, 1722-1941. Mrs Gross was the mother of Constance Gram who submitted some Paris genealogy to the Family History Center. page 116, Section X Children of Mary (Paris) Smalley, a daughter of Stephen D. Paris. Mary was born Feb 8, 1852; was married Feb 27, 1878, near Mineral Springs, Ohio, to James Smalley. The Rev. William Nevil, officiating. Mr. Smalley passed away Dec 22, 1935 and his wife. Mary Francis passed on Dec. 28, 1935. Both were burried in the same grave. He was a farmer. For several years before her husband passed away, he was nearly blind, and seven years before he died, he suffered a stroke, but his faithful wife, Mary, who was a very sweet Christian woman, bore all her sorrow and suffering without complaint. She cared for him until July of 1935 when she fell and fractured a hip. In October of that year, they were taken to the home of their son Samuel Otis Smalley, where they both were called home in December of that year. To James and Mary F. were born nine children, James, Willis, Nona, Leslie and Emma all died in childhood. Frank died in 1917. John, Samuel O. and Charles W. are still living.
