I'm actually looking for an obit. on Wilson Grooms, died 9-1-1917 (Ohio death Index), Martin Vanburen Grooms, died 9-29-1923 (Ohio Death Index) and Serena,Sereana Grooms, nee Pence, died 8-25-1909 (forget where I got that death date). All died in Adams Co. My Great,great grandfather, John Grooms' death cert states that Wilson Grooms and Sereana Pence are his parents, HOW-EVER, in 1880 Census John (age 15)is in household of Vanburen and Serena Grooms. Wilson is married to a Nancy (Copas?)I'm trying to figure which of the men are actually his father. Hopefully an obit may tell me. There is also an Alfred Grooms (believed to be Johns brother) that died July 26, 1939 Adams Co. Nikki

There is only one river in Adams County and that is the Ohio River. Run, in these parts, means a gravel/dirt road (most of the time)... a lot of the roads are referred to as "Run or Holler" . I would say, at one time "Easter Run" was associated with the name of Easter. Hope that helps you some. There is a Cora M. Hilderbrand in Conamaugh Twp., Cambria Co., Pa who returns born May 1882, age 18 on the census. She was the daughter of James and Jennie --- which I realize doesn't fit with Mollie. But it's an idea.

She was married to Emanuel Edward Shanks (b. 5-10-1877 d. 1966). They lived in Poplar Grove, Pike County Ohio and were married in Adams County 12-23-1897. They are both buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Poplar Grove. She went by the name of Myrtle and her mother's name was Mollie. I have heard but not confirmed that her mother's maiden name was Davidson and that at some point she married a Hilterbran and then a Riley. The spelling for Hilterbran could very well be wrong as I don't have any confirmation except a marriage licence application that is very hard to read. I have a son listed as James E. Smalley and an unknown Smalley but no birth dates. I can't say if Andrew was married to another but Rebecca died in 1914. Her obituary only list a Mrs. W.L.
