Judy, I am not directly descended from Gilbert Sparks, but I bet I can get to him. Most Sparks in the area migrated from Pennsylvania together. I'll check what I have and get back to you. The DeCamps are a complete mystery. I have sources that say that a David DeCamps is the father of Mary DeCamps Sparks. He was born between 1780 - 1790. I have him in Adams County in the early 1800's and in Pennsylvania before that. Then he disappears. No cemetery records, no death certs were made or available from then. Just poof, gone. I'm a little skeptical about Elizabeth being the mother of James. She was born about 1785, so that would have put her in her late 40's when having kids with a ten year gap between Isaac and James. Most researchers show John and Elizabeth having 12-13 kids, but the last 4 I have always questioned.

You can place a maximum of two requests per month, but each request can be for 1-5 death certificates. They ask for as much info as you have for the person (ie., death date, county of death, certificate number), then they will send you the certificates and an invoice. Their charge is $1 for processing and 5 cents each for the copies. So, for 5 death certificates, your charge is only $1.25. You can't beat that!!! Requests can be emailed to speccollections@akronlibrary.org. It normally takes 3-5 weeks to get your death certificates in the mail.

After 1870) who were married 29 Dec 1804 in Adams County, Va. I show their children as: Rebecca (1820) James (1832) Malinda (1833) Mary (1835) Harriet (1836) Nancy (1841) I don't have a Abraham Copas, but I do show Abraham Grooms as Elizabeth's father... Checking a transcribed copy of the 1850 Census I find them in Jefferson Township with the last name misspelled as COPES (don't know if it's in the census that way or it's a transcription error). Their census entry shows all of the people I listed above. Two entries down I find a Abraham COPES (37), Hannah (33), and John(12). Right in the same area I also see a John COPES (35) and his family as well as a Issac COPES (22) and his family. There were some others listed in that township as well.

I am searching for information on Robert Erwin (also found Irwin) & Elizabeth WALLACE ERWIN. Robert & Elizabeth were both born in 1804 in Westmoreland Co., PA. (Word of mouth states Robert with 2 other brothers came to OH bet. 1815 & 1820; Robert went to Scioto Co., ond went to Jackson Co., OH & one to Kentucky. Robert & Elizabeth Erwin, were married in Adams Co., OH (record is listed Irwin), 2 Nov 1825. Robert & Elizabeth WALLACE Erwin purchased property 4 Feb 1836 (Deed-Vol H, pg 491) and recorded 12 May 1836 in Scioto Co., OH (town was Harrisonville, Madison Twp., Scioto Co., OH which is now called Minford, Madison Twp., Scioto Co., OH). The deed stated Robert & Elizabeth of Lawrence Co. (I assume OH). Their children were: Andrew, b abt. 1826, married POSSIBLY Callie STOCKHAM Samuel W., 20 Sep 1828, married Nancy STOCKHAM Margaret, b 15-18 Feb 1831, married John C.
