Author: annalykins1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.adams/1848.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This almost certainly the same family, but I can't say for certain that Susannah and Sarah were the same person. They moved around a lot and the most likely place for Sarah Gilman's marriage to Daniel Fetters was Bedford County, Pennsylvania. They later moved to Indiana County, PA and eventually to Lewis County, Kentucky, across the Ohio River from Adams County, Ohio where some of her siblings settled. The Gilman/Fetters marriages you have are confirmed by Fetters researchers. I do not have the marriage date/place of Henry Gilman and Mary Fetters. Henry Gilman b. Abt. 1754 ( not sure where born ---I found his father, Henry Kielman arriving at the port of Philadelphia aboard the ship, Phoenix, on Oct. 1, 1754, I also found him taking the oath of Allegiance To The Province And State Of Pennsylvania on the same date, and he is on a 1754 Philadelphia Township,Philadelphia County census as Henry Gielman. I next have been able to find him on a Proprietary and State Tax List of the County of Berks for the year 1767 as Henry Gilman. I've not been able to determine exactly when he moved from Philadelphia County to Berks County. I have been looking for Berks County German church records to see if I can find the birth dates of his kids or his wife's name, or Northumberland County German Church records to see what I can find there, but so far I have not been successful. Henry Gilman b. Abt. 1754 married Margaret Smith, daughter of Adam Smith, b. ca 1755 probably Northumberland Co., PA. Children: (1) Henry Gilman b. Abt. 1782 Buffalo Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania m. Mary Fetters ( do you know when or where they married?) (2) Susanna Gilman b. Abt. 1784 Buffalo township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. I have nothing else on her. ( could she be the Sarah Gilman married to Daniel Fetters ca. 1801??)Where and when did Sarah Gilman and Daniel Fetters marry? (3)Margaret Gilman b. 1. Re: [OHADAMS] Frank Adams/Lucy A. Wylie/Wiley
    2. Lucy A. is the daughter of Stephen & Lucinda Wylie. Check the 1880 Adams Co., Oh census. Lucinda is the daughter of Wm.& Lucy Adams, Bath Co.Ky /Adams Co/Oh. On the census, she is listed as 17 years of age, making her born in 1863. I have her death certificate at home in Ca, but you can get a copy at the Health Dept in West Union. The only Frank Adams I can come up with is Charles Franklin Adams, son of Lige Adams. Lige is the brother of my Grandfather John Calvin Adams( 1871), both sons of John Marion Adams(1831), son of William (1792) & Lucy Bailey Adams. On the death cert for Lucy Ada Wylie (Adams), her info is given by a Frank Adams. I am thinking that maybe this was her brother, Francis Wylie & not Frank Adams. Maybe it was a mistake when her death info was given. I think the Wylies are buried in Lawshe Cem?? I checked the 1900 Adams Co census for Lucy A.Adams, but came up empty. Have you checked for a marriage license for her or where she is buried & what her headstone says? I am in Greene Co, OH, but will be back home in CA on May 16th. I can send you a copy of her death cert if you want it. I can't remember if it says she was md, single or a widow on it. They had five acres and Dad continued to raise vegetabels to sell. In 1950 he had the flu which weakened his heart. He died of a heart attack July 7, 1950...............after Father's death, Mother sold her New Rome home, I sold my home in Columbus (43 Latta Ave.); we bought at 1081 Harrisburg Piek.. Do you know if Harrisburg Piek was in New Rome? I am wondering now if he was taken back to WV to be buried or if he was buried on his land in New Rome. I am assuming that in 1950 New Rome would be the same as Rome. I keep running into more questions but that is what genealogy is all about, right? Again, thanks for your help.
