    1. [OHADAMS-L] ADAMS CO. Wedding Records
    2. Hi! An Adams Co., wedding record book says my great-great-great grandparents, HARTIN BROWN was married to POLLY COLVIN by Joseph Westerbrook in Adams Co. March 23, 1815. Who has the original marriage records for this time...Adams Co. probate court? Or are they somewhere else? I want to see if either of the parents of these two might be listed on the original records. I am trying to find the names of the parents. (Incidently, HARTIN's actual name was HARLIN and POLLY's was actually MARY ANN COLVIN. Polly was a nickname. It apparently was misspelled somewhere in the records.) Any data on BROWN and COLVIN families in Adams County around 1815 will also be appreciated. Thanks! Gunde3455@aol.com

    1. [OHADAMS-L] COLVIN/CALVIN & BROWN
    2. Does anyone have data on COLVIN and CALVIN families in ADAMS County in the early 1800s?? I'm trying to find out who were the parents of MARY ANN COLVIN/CALVIN born in 1796 in MASON COUNTY, KY.. She married HARLIN SHEPHERD BROWN of BOURBON CO. in 1815 in ADAMS CO., OHIO. I presume they were married in ADAMS County because her parents moved there from Kentucky by 1815. Also would appreciate any connections between BROWN and SHEPHERD families. Any connections or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Gunde3455@aol.com

    1. Re: [OHADAMS-L] Maysville, Kentucky
    2. Maysville KY, is about 15miles west of Manchester, OH. My father used to cross the OHIO River with sled and a team of horses or mules, when the river froze deeply enough to support the weight, at his father's farm in Adams County, Ohio, which was located about 2-3 miles east of Manchester. His farm straddled Rt. 52, and he also owned land across the river in Lewis Co. Kentucky. Thank God he never fell through, for, for due to a bronchial problem, he never learned to swim. If he had, you would not be reading this great, world-shattering missive now! ! ! My uncle drove a milk truck for a company in Maysville, for many years, probably until the 1960's. He picked up whole, fresh milk from farms in the back-country hills of Adams County, and delivered it to the company in Maysville. Lewis County, (formed from part of Mason Co. is directly across the river from Manchester. The rich farm lands along both sides of the OHIO RIVER were settled by pioneers leaving Virginia and other easterly states. They floated down the river in house boats, rafts, canoes and row boats. Row boats were still a popular mode of transportation back and forth across the river, when I was a little girl, for those who did not need to go to Manchester Ohio, or Vanceburg Ky., to cross the river. In our school history books there were photos of several woodcuts showing the wide, deep OHIO River, during the indian-settler days. GOD BLESS. PAT in Az.
