Of their 8 children; Levi, Joseph A., Henry C., Mary Foreman and Sidney R. were buried in Tiffin II. Caroline STROMAN BURBAGE was buried in Tiffin I. Henry's lifetime friend Lewis Teets is buried in Tiffin I. Two of Lewis' boys married Stroman girls. I have the Tiffin I & II, Spriggs twp and Manchester twp cemetery lists. Can anyone help locate Henry and Mary?? Thanks for your efforts. Jim Middleton

Thanks Delsa I'm looking for the company that William Henry Carl was in. I know he was in the civil war but that is all I know. I would like to send for his records, which might give me some clues. I'm still hunting for him and can't locate him after abt 1870. He divorced Christina Hedrick Carl before 1880. Any help would be great. Sharon
Change the semi-colon after http to colon. It will work better. It's gratifying to read that some cemeteries are in good condition. I was at Jacksonville Cemetery in Meigs Twp. last summer and its condition is appalling. The deterioration that has taken place over the past 10 or so years is amazing. Many, many broken stones are just stacked up in piles here and there. I'm glad that the ACGS copied this cemetery years ago - otherwise much valuable information would be lost. Is any group in charge of this cemetery? Hello, I was reading with interest and concern what the Holt's and Connie had to say about the Locust Grove cemetery. A number of my HORN ancestors are also buried there, and I would be willing to send a contribution to the folks who are commissioned to maintain it. As I recall, it's a large cemetery and would be a big job to mow ,etc. Please let me know to whom I should write. Thanks, Delsa
Hi Sharon, Evans & Stiver's History of Adams County Ohio has a section on the Civil War..pp. 340-364. It's not a list of names, but of various Company's. It appears to name the officers, causalities and where various Company's served. If you are looking for a particular name, I'll be happy to look for you. Also, if you know the name of the company in which they served, I can tell you if they are discussed. Delsa
I have completed the basic lineage information on the following Adams Co. lines on my new website: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~swanger/ Surnames are: * SWANGER/SWONGER *LLOYD *HALL *MONTGOMERY *WILLIS *LEWIS
I know what you mean about Locust Grove Cemetery as I have been there several times. I have a lot of kin buried there from way back when also in West Union and Loudon. At Locust Grove, it is not kept up well at all and some of the graves are sinking. I almost fell down in one the last time. The keeper lives right acrosss the road that goes into the cemetery as we have spoken to him. Good luck. connie Craig and Sharon Holt wrote: > Hello Again. > > I wanted to let others know what a very nice job the gentleman that owns the > farm that Flat Run Cemetery in Scott Township is on. > > I was there today and it has already been mowed. Hello Again. I wanted to let others know what a very nice job the gentleman that owns the farm that Flat Run Cemetery in Scott Township is on. I was there today and it has already been mowed. I know this doesn't sound so special, but, Locust Grove Cemetery could sure take a lesson from this guy. Other's were worse. A bit hats off to this farmer who must have alot of other things to do, but took the time to mow. Sharon
Hi all Does anyone have a list available of Civil War soldiers from Adams County? Sharon
I was in Adams County today going through cemeteries. Does anyone know who the M. Shoemaker b 2/19/1857 d5/29/1882 buried in Locust Grove is? At Flat Runn Cemetery I found a Eddie Shoemaker b 1888 d 1948, I'm not sure who that would be. Sharon
