The Adams County Genealogical Society is a gem. They have an impressive array of publications including early voter lists, cemetery transcriptions, marriage records, and census transcriptions. All can be purchased for very affordable prices if you can't get to their library (you will also find many of these publications at other libraries with Ohio collections). The ACGS also has an quarterly newsletter, which includes reader-submitted queries along with an array of informative articles. I don't have their address at hand, but it's a PO box in West Union. Hope this helps. Margaret ! !
Jesse, Thanks for the directions to the library. Now I won't get lost! Janet
Janet: West Union is very small. 1 1/2 blocks north of court house on Rt. 247 on left hand side. Marked with green sign and an old log cabin. Open from noon to 4:00 PM Thursdays and Saturdays.Closed on holidays. Good people. Jesse W. Cook JANSGEN@aol.com wrote: > Jesse, > Thank you for the information on where to find records. Janet: The Adams County Genealogical Society library is in West Union, Ohio. It is a gold mine of information. I would also call your attention to the public library in Portsmouth, Ohio in Scioto County. They also have a wealth of Adams County information. The Portsmouth genealogical section is in charge of a lady named Betsy who is very knowledgeable about both counties. The people in both libraries will be very helpful. Go to Portsmouth on days when the Adams County library is not open. Jesse W. Cook JANSGEN@aol.com wrote: > Hello, > Can someone give me advice on where I can find Adams County books and > records? Jesse, Thank you for the information on where to find records. Can you tell me where the Adams Co. Gen. library is located? Janet
Hello, Can someone give me advice on where I can find Adams County books and records? Is there a Genealogical library or Historical library in Adams County? I would like to find where most of them are located so I only have to make one trip. Thanks in advance for any help. Janet

Do you know if there are any books or listings of the graves of that cemetery? I had relatives from that general area so would be very interested to know more. Thanks & good luck to you. June
List, I am trying to find a trusties of the McKee Cemetery in Green Twp. off of Wagner Riffle Road (Abner Hollow Road). I am hoping there is a plot map of the cemetery. Thank you. Mark Cox <mkcox@bright.net)> Manchester, Adams, OH

I'm trying to identify who W. & E.D. GORE were. They have two sons buried in Locust Grove cemetery which is in Franklin twp., Adams County. One son died in 1839 and the other one in 1841. They both appear to be young...maybe infants. I believe the GORE family lived in Bratton Twp. Would someone check the 1850 Bratton Twp. Census to see if a W. & E.D. GORE are listed? Does anyone relate to these folks? Delsa
