    2. Skip, Thanks for the reply. Someone else sent me the children of Samuel Nichols. Charles is listed as Charles A. Nichols born Nov. 1896, Ohio I am looking for Charles Hugh born Jan. 31, 1890 Jefferson Twp.. Parents: C.C. Nichols and Ruth E. Brown. This was taken from the book " Adams Co. 3. Janet, my wife is a Nichols, the only Charles Nichols that I have is the son of Samuel W. Nichols and Una Madge Watson. They were married 24 Dec. 1890. This Charles has 10 siblings, but I don't have any detailed information on him. Samuel W. Nichols, was from the Peach Mountain area of Adams Co., and Una Madge Watson, from Blue Creek, in Adams County. 2. Cooper,Zachariah Mahaffey died at [?] Cherry Fork,Civil War time. Several kids mostly went to TIPTON CO,IN,but Lafe-Lafayette-was raised by the Platter's near where Peebles would be when the RR came. Married Nancy Walker. Wife's grandmother,Myrtle Mahaffey Ashton had a sister,Pearl -Mrs John Fetters,of Leesburg, and another married to a HOOPER, of Peebles, [Momuments]. And there was a THAN [NATHAN?] MAHAFFEY,of Portsmouth. Zach had a dau m SAM Maxwell, and another --? I was told there were 3 Mahaffey bros on East Fork,Eagle, se Decatur, early, and wife's pioneer died there 1799. My wife's grandmother,Myrtle Mahaffey Ashton, though born poor, had a very regal posture. Her best friends,of the SUNSHINE FARM WOMAN'S CLUB called her "MRS ASHTON" ,WHILE CALLING EACH OTHER BY 1ST NAMES. But,she had that great "Irish"? humor. ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. 2. Been awhile. My source was either you,or Cheryl Long,or somebody with WALKER'S,of the city of BLUE JAY. Billtown,Jacktown, and BLUE Crick folk may be kin. Brush [Ohio] Creek Baptist burials. You see,the Cherry Fork area went to pot when the SWANGER's moved in,so the Mahaffey's moved back in the hills. Mineral Springs, maybe. Peach MT. Or over Copeland MT towards Cedar Mills. 1. [OHADAMS-L] Hosea Moore the namesake?
    2. I forget the surname Gillespie had for a Hosea. Hosea Moore was an important man in Adams Co,and lived east of West Union,on Ohio Brush Creek. [You at a distance-Ohio Brush Creek drains south several miles east of West Union, entering the Ohio River. East of it are BLUE CREEK,and Turkey Creek branches of Scioto Brush creek, draining east into the Scioto. Churn creek, and BLUE CREEK head up within short miles of the Ohio, but drain away from it,finally turning east. ] .My mother was a RUHAMA,so I remember HOSEA MOORE had a sister,RUHAMA,near Winchester, who had 15-20 kids. Rev Joseph Moore was on the latter,BLUE CREEK,starting Ohio's 1st Methodist church "building' about 1800, and later moving to the Ohio bottoms near Manchester. If Hosea Moore was Methodist,STONE CHAPEL was his church,e of WEST UNION. I just "UNSUBSCRIBE" from PAADAMS-L were I have anscestors,to rejoin OHADAMS-L where my wife has MAHAFFEY,WALKER,NEWMAN,[GIFFORD?] and another I forget. Plus, our Fagley's Fruit Farm market was on RT 125 between WEST UNION and Cincinnati,so I waited on Adams Co folk 40+ years. I remember one evening when I had 4 cars of customers, all from WEST UNION. The druggist, the Lafferty's,Les Laurens, and a 4th I forget. Many a Wayside Inn apple pie had our apples. ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. 3. I think you are talking about the pool that was near Adams Lake. The pool is gone. There is a car dealership there. The lake is there and a wonderful place to have a picnic. The entrance is on the northern side of West Union on St Rt 41. Sandy Lewis jan gillespie wrote: > > Herm, > > We miss you on the Hamilton list. 3. Hello List, I just had the nicest conversation with two of your residents - they work at the Walnut Hills Cemetery. I am visiting the cemetery on my way to West Union and the trip will be much more pleasant now. They represented Cinti and Adams county well. I rank it right up there with my laid back easy conversations with the State of Ky people. I just can't imagine finding a grave from 1935 that easily. Now could someone let me know the operating hours for the Adams Co. Historical Society. God bless Jan <>< _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. Hello, This is my first appearance on this list and I would appreciate any input regarding the POTTS family in Adams County, early. My great-great grandfather, Hiram Potts, was born @1800-1810 in Pennsylvania. I have found indications that his family moved to the area of Adams and Brown counties by 1820. His mother was Hannah Spacht/Speck and his father Jesse Potts. Hiram had a brother named David, who married Elizabeth Charles. The men were riverboaters by occupation. By 1840, Hiram was living in Newport KY and died there in the 1880's. I'd like to hear from anyone with either POTTS in their family, or any information on following up the riverboatmen lead. I have found much information on other Potts names, but can't come up with Hiram! Thanks, Ann Bergelt Florida
