Altho' these are for Monroe Co. , not Adams Co., the second entry refers to Wm. DEMENT and says he's the first white man to land at Cincinnati. I think they said FRIDAY at 8 pm [EASTERN DAYLIGHT Time] C-SPAN will replay on Cable TV the 3 hour US GRANT version of their series on the American Presidents. They ran the "live" version this am 8-11 am. Long time US GRANT expert and S ILL U history prof, and editor of the "US GRANT Papers",Prof . JOHN SIMON is long on camera. Amelia,Clermont's historian RICK CRAWFORD,was a caller, and added Clermont Co Grant data. Today was a 1st for me. I've talked to Prof SIMON in the past, and had his EMAIL address, so,while the show ran live, I added a few comments,in an Email,to the good PROF. Hannah Simpson m Jesse Root Grant,1821 a 1\2 mile from where I type. A year later, HU [US] GRANT was born at Pt Pleasant. A year later, the family moved to the new town of Georgetown,Brown Co. Oh. HU [US] Grant was sent to Maysville,Ky for some higher education, and then to WEST POINT. He married a DENT gal from suburban ST LOUIS, and she had 4 slaves, and he freed 1 he got somehow. While Grant was in Calif,JULIA DENT GRANT had thewir son,BUCK OR BUCKEYE at BETHEL MAYOR Jesse Root Grant's,3 miles from me,in a house that was built by US SEN THOMAS MORRIS. Crawford said Pres Grant passed thru Amelia to visit his Bethel Simpson cousins the day after he buried his mother in 1888.[?] in Cincinnati's Spring Grove Cemetary. My grandmother RUIE ELY BROWN said she had seen Pres Grant go back SUGARTREE-must have been that day. ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. Hello, I have worked with the Manchester Census. The 1860, 1870, 1880 are for sale for 10.00 each by the Adams County Genealogical Society. For a small donation they do look-ups. They have a newsletter. Dues are 10.00 yr, address-- Adams County Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 231, West Union OH 45693. They print queries in the newsletter for members. The material that they sell is excellent or have a lookup done. If you can visit it is only the copy expense. I made a trip this summer and they are very nice folks. --- Inyansa4@aol.com wrote: > I was just reading what you wrote, and I was > wandering where you seen the > Manchester census?
