    3. Hi Mark, My Grandmother Bradford had a genealogy done on the "Carter" side,(15 yrs.ago)along with it was a page with Mary Nancy Chain/Carter`s "Chain" side. This page lists Joseph Chain and Freelove Cox as her parents. Freelove Cox was born 6-28-1842, she couldn`t of been Freelove Bennet Born in 1796. I didn`t find out who Freelove Cox`s parents were untill I checked at "Family Search". I was amazed at all the research on Mary Nancy Chain/Carter- she is my ggrandmother. The only thing mentioned wrong is 2 MALE children living-they are females 1)Bertha Lerlene Carter/Bradford 2)Grace Irene Carter/Croswell-still living I`m not sure where William Cox and Nancy Ann Owens lived and had the children,I can`t find anything on them. But I will check into the information you gave me. This is worth mentioning and must have some bearing as to why I can`t find anything on William Cox: The genealogy has a footnote at the bottom of the page, ***Freelove Cox was a cousin to James M.Cox (1870-1957) who served as governor of Ohio for 3 terms and also ran for the presidency in 1920.(against Warren G.Harding with Franklin Delano Roosevelt as his running mate). *One of the submitters at Family Search recently told me that it is true...Freelove is cousin to James M.Cox. I did some research into this and here it is: James M.Cox parents:Gilbert Cox and Eliza Andrews Gilbert Cox parents:Gilbert Cox(sr.)and Anna Craig brother:William Craig Cox Might be a far fetched hunch but: If my William Cox is actually William Craig Cox than Freelove and James would indeed be cousins. William Craig Cox born:9-15-1819 died:2-1-1904 Nancy Ann Owens born:3-21-1813 died:6-18-1894 married:6-18-1836 ***William would of been 16yrs.old,Nancy 22yrs.old when they had Catherine Cox out of wedlock in 1835. This is merely a wild and crazy hunch, because I have no other idea as to how Freelove could be cousin to James M.Cox. One last thing...a researcher spotted all the "Cox" children living with Nancy Ann Owens/Bennington and Samuel Bennington in 1850 census of Oh.,Adams,Meigs page 38.She said, the census taker assumed all the children were Samuel`s because they all have the Bennington surname. I say maybe they were adopted. Well Mark keep in touch, thanks for sending all the info.,email me if anything new develops. 3. Hello, I have no Bennington ancestry that I know of, other than Nancy Ann Owens remarried to a Samuel Bennington in abt.1847 and some of the "Cox" children from her marriage to William Cox may have been adopted by Samuel Bennington. There is quite alot of research done on Samuel Bennington at "Family Search", it dates back to the 1700`s. Freelove Cox is the only one I can trace, lucky for me,she`s my gggrandmother. I was told she is a cousin to James M.Cox- Governor of Ohio 2-3terms,and ran for president in 1920 against Warren G.Harding, with Franklin Delano Roosevelt as a running mate. Your story is really interesting about the underground railroad,I would like to hear more about it,email me. 1. [OHADAMS] VERAX - Still Searching
    2. I am still searching for word of the VERAX family that settled in Adams County - in Rome/Stout area - in 1876. They are Edmond and Mary Anne VERAX. I have recently met two of my VERAX relatives that live there now, but would be grateful if anyone has any old records that can help us to piece together the history of our family. I will be working with them to pull what's left of our family together. Thanks so much! MaryAnn
