That may be exactly where I will find an answer to a long standing mystery of background data on Thomas KENNEDY, gg-grandfather shown on 1830 Brown Co census (Huntington Twp). There must be some connection to the BOLENDARS, TRUES and APPLES. The APPLES & EMERYS and BOLENDARS all intermarried and in 1802 are shown on an EMERY deed next to property of Alexander KENNEDY, in Clermont CO OH. Still searching for more data on Alexander. Then these names are all around Thomas KENNEDY, in Hancock Co IN census of 1870. Virgene in northwest IN

I have a KENNEDY family that lived mostly in PA, moving to OH late in life. The first of this KENNEDY family to come to America was John KENNEDY, b. 1722 in Antrium, IRE and his wife whose birth name was MURRAY. The arrived in Baltimore, MD after their marriage in Ireland in 1748. Their son, John KENNEDY, was b. Baltimore in 1751. This son was a captain in the Continental Army under George Washington, lived most of his life in Franklin Co., PA, moving to Bryan, Williams Co., OH as an old man. He d. abt. 1848 in Bryan. This John KENNEDY md. Elizabeth Templin, and they had 10 children: Mary, James, John, George, Elizabeth, Sarah, Hannah, Catherine, Jacob, and Margaret. Mary (my ancestor) was b. 1788 in PA and lived much of her life in Carlisle and Meadville, PA. She married David HOLLIDAY. Do you see any possible connections? I see only two. One, both your Hugh KENNEDY and my second John KENNEDY served in the Rev. War under G. Washington, and second, the naming of daughters Catherine with a "C" rather than a "K". Also, they both lived in PA. But since KENNEDY is such a common name, there may be no relationship. OTIS B. BRADFORD BN. ABERDEEN,OHIO 1884,SEARCHING FOR HIS MOTHER AND MY GREATGRANDFATHER,FROM THIS AREA ,ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT,THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Some data is being transmitted over the internet about the burnt Brown Co,Oh records. The data is undated. I DO "NOT" know all the facts, but others here likely do. The data being spred mentions Ripley, and the Historical Society there. I gues, today, there are 2 historical societies in Ripley-the 2nd trying to preserve black underground RRer,and iron founder,John Parker's home. There is a recent book about him Ripley might have been the Brown Co county seat a year about 1818, but from 1820,Georgetown is the county seat. It was about 1970 that an arsonist set fire to the old Brown Co courthouse in the middle of town. And a lot of the old records were damaged some, but saved by volunteers. .The Brown Co genealogy soc , Ye Old Stone Jail,Courthouse Square, Georgetown seems to be the organization called the Ripley Hist Soc in the article with errors. One,or more of their active members of that era is on here. I know those old records were stored someplace in Georgetown-my mother visited them. And the Brown Co Gen Soc LIBRARY IN Ye Ol Stone Jail, has a copier, and would have been the place to get the damaged records copied. [Times I was in the library, they still had several prison cells intact-the very ones used by "your" anscestors!]/ Anyway, the article being distributed is undated. There was once a building used to store the old records. The courthouse has been repaired, and other buildings built in the years since. I have no idea if there is yet a seperate building holding old records I heard my mother mention said building in the 1970's. I have been active daily on-line in BROWN Co Genealoy since Jan,1992, and do not remeber hearing, since 1992,anyone mention said building. Georgetown has an active, and large Morman congregation. I would think they would have made copies of the most important data before the fire. Carl Thomasob's 1970 history has some records from before the fire. 1795-1818 Brown Co was in Clermont and Adams Co. Adams Co had a courthouse fire 1910. Clermont has good records, but is missing marriage records of 1808-1811 . Aberdeen,se most Brown Co had 2 "marrying J.P." for years. Pat Donaldson Mills placed much of Thomas Shelton,JP's records in the MASON cO,kY Hist Soc Library,Sutton St,Maysville, Ky, but Massie Beasley J.P.'S THOUSANDS of marriages are thought lost. There is,on-line OHBROWN-L people who can expand on the burnt records, but,I'm afraid the erronious [?] post will haunt the Ripley Historical Society for years.Ripley has,or at least had before I got shut-in nursing 10 years ago,a nice antique Mall inthe old piano factory . ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. Thank-you for the response. Ellison that makes a little since. Ellisons came to America in about 1790 and brought Duncan McFarland with them. Duncan was 19 at the time. Thanks again, I hope someday I can connect all these people together somehow. Bob McFarland in Groveport

Does anyone on the list who lives in the Manchester area know if anything happened to Paul White owner of White's T.V. Service? He had telephoned me earlier this year and also written to me about white family genealogy and then nothing. I have tried to call him and I never get an answer I do not know anyone in the Adams County area so I do not know who to call to ask if he is alright. I apologize for asking a non genealogy related question but I was afraid something happened to him, and he seemed like such a nice fellow. Mike Howerton
