Hello Everyone, I was asked today about where & what books can be bought, dealing with Adams Co., Ohio. I thought others might be interested, also. Since my mother and I created the newest ordering list for the Gen. Soc. I have the file on my computer. If anyone would like a copy please fill free to email me. It's a MSWord2000 document, but I can save it in different formats before attaching it. This will be directly to the person interested not the list, since attachments are not permitted. Delsey ACGS VP
Christine, I don't believe they are indexed, since our society, Adams County Gen. Soc., sells the index. Index to Thompson History Vol. I $10.00 _____ Index to Thompson History Vol. II $10.00 _____ Delsey ACGS VP

Thanks for your help, Rene. Rene, Do you have a time frame? Mason County is right below Adams & Brown County and the nearest river crossing, between Aberdeen & Maseville. Mason is a very old County that has shrunk to it's present area. This might be a good starting place. If you send me a little more info I might be able to narrow it down or closer. Good Luck, Delsey
Delsey, I'd like a copy of the list--I have Word99--guess it'll work! Thanks a lot, Karen Dale Descendant of Lewises and Meekers in Adams Co
Hi Melissa, Thanks for ordering the 1850 CD for Adams County. I'm one of the 5 and can't wait to get my hands on it! Carl Sparks
Hi Listers, I am hoping some kind soul might help me. Does anyone happen to have a copy of "Adams Ct. Ohio, Thompson's Historical Collection"? If so, is it indexed, if not forget it! I am searching for infomation on my Welch and Auckerman lines who could have arrived in Adams Ct., likely from northern Va. about 1810 or possibly before. Another lister told me there are accounts of groups of pioneers who came from Va., stayed in Ky. awhile and then came across the river. I am serious when I say forget it, if there's not an index, I'll find the book someday, in that case. THANKS Christine Welch Harrison cwelch@neo.rr.com

Delsey, Can you tell me where I may find a list of the books that the Adams Co OH Gene Society has for sale. Is there an online site that may have this info? I would like to purchase books related to history of Adams, along with marriages, births, etc. Thanks for any suggestion you may provide Virgene in northwest IN

Delsey, I haven't written you in quite a while; hope all is fine with you. I have a question for you. I have traced my MURPHYs back to KY (my gg grandfather being from there) but don't know where to start looking in KY. Do you have any idea where the people "crossed over" the river to Adams County, OH? Hello everyone, Maybe there are books out there that survived the fire because I have had access to a book in my public library called: Some Marriage Records of Adams County Ohio 1797-1894 by Adams County Genealogical Society Vol. I 1988. I have made photo copies of a few pages out of this book that go from the years 1804 to 1848. However, the marriage records in Scioto County show Ureh Tumbleston and Hezekiah Kennedy be married 4 December, 1850. He was age 22 at the time. I suspect the Ury that you mentioned was a generation earlier unless he married a much older woman. Or, could this Ury have had a much younger sister named Ureh? Interesting to consider anyway. Thanks for your input. Kay

Hi all! What all burned when the Adams County court house burned in 1910? Everything??? There seem to be some marriage records left. Were some of the marriage books saved, and if so which years? I can't find a marriage record for one that took place probably between 1845 and 1850. Deeds, wills, probate? Did all of those burn? Joanne in CA
Kay... I am a Tumbleson research... My lines begin with Samuel Tumbleson. Samuel had a daughter named URY TUMBLESON who married WM. A. HOLLIDAY 8, January 1833 (Adams County, Ohio)...could this be yours... possibly the KENNEDY is a second marriage? That is all the information I have on a URY TUMBLESON. ~Sherry~ <^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^><^> Visit my Adams County, Ohio Resources page http://www.geocities.com/cheroke7_98/genealogy.html
I have been asking the Scioto County List about some spouses of the KENNEDY family in Brush Creek Twp., Scioto County. I suddenly realized that perhaps some of them were from Adams County! The Kennedy family lived not too far from the county line and we do know of some of the marriages involved both counties. Selah/Celia/Selia Kennedy married George W. RILEY 4 July 1852. Are there any RILEY researchers who recogize his name? Orrin/Orin P. Kennedy married Mary F. McDANIEL 1 January 1872. Are there any McDANIEL researchers who recognize her name? Hezekiah Kennedy married Ureh TUMBLESON 4 Dec. 1850. Are there any TUMBLESON researchers who recognize her name? I am not trying to get a complete family on any of these names, but thought it would be interesting to find out a little about where they were from and perhaps a little about their family. If anyone can help, I would appreciate a note. Kay Winter wcwinter@webaccess.net
