Dixie, I do McMillen research in Adams and Brown Co. Oh. I checked my data base, and could not find your James P. What did he name his children? Sometimes the names of children are a good clue. The first James I have is James and Margaret (Drury) McMillen from Pa. They came to Adams Co. early 1800's Lived in Byrd Twp. Brown Co. today. My ancestor was Jonathan Woodside McMillen, their son. There were a lot of James McMillens,I feel that there is a connection to this family. I am looking for information on my gg-father, Francis M. (Frank) Eubanks, born cir 1837 in KY according to census records. He married Nancy Arnett in 1860 in Nicholas County, Ky and their first son George N. was born cir 1862 in KY. Their second son James was born cir 1865 in OH, so they must have moved to Ohio between 1862 and 1865. Frank married his second wife, Anna Elizabeth Paris around 1870. They are listed in the 1880 and 1900 census in Adams County, OH. Friends have looked in all of the 1850-Ky census and could not find him. If someone could check the 1850-Ohio census, I would greatly appreciate it. Francis M. or Frank would have been around 13 years old. I have found Eubanks, head of household, in the 1850 Ohio Census Index, in the following counties: Fayette, Darke, Highland, Pike, Browne, Hamilton, Jackson Thank you, Bob Eubanks Email eubanks123@aol.com FAMILY HISTORY CHART Francis M. Mark, There is an Atlas dated 1797-1880 for Adams County. I don't know if this helps. It is also sold by the Sycamore Chapter DAR at the Library, but theirs not many left. They cost $32.50 plus $1.95 tax if you live in Ohio & also postage of $4.00. Thanks, Delsey Knoechelman Adams Co. Genealogical Soc., Vice President & Newsletter Editor
Were there any Plat Atlases for Adams County that survived the courthouse fire? Sometimes they contain portraits of prominent individuals that were living in the county. And I'm planning on coming to Ohio next weekend and wondered if one existed at the geneology building that might be of interest to me. Thanks, Mark
Hello: Would it be possible for you to supply me with the addresses of the Mortuary's in the Adams County, I have corresponded with the Adams County Genealogical Society, and written to about every place where I can obtain information as to where my ggrand- mother Martarilly Long Bailey Price (wife of John S. Price) both born 1818, are buried, Martarilly was still shown on the 1900 Jefferson County Twp. living with her daughter Nancy Hudson and two grandchildren, she died about February 5, 1908. She was the mother also of Daniel and William Bailey, she married John Price and they had more children and she had Sarah Ann Price who became my greatgrandmother. If I could get the address and wrote to the Mortuary's they possibly would have Internment Records. Thank You June Dysart

Hi Carl, I was wondering if the writing on the tombstone you mentioned is still legible? I know that there is a process where broken tombstones can be glued back together. I believe it's an epoxy of some sort. I've seen the results, and it works. E-mail me directly if you're interested, and I'll see if I can get some more information. Delsa
Hi Joanne, I can't help you with the Smith's, that's my married name and my husband's family is all from PA. They never left there once they landed on dry land in the late 1600's. For the Crawfords: First of all I recommend that you try and find the following book, "The Crawfords of Adams County, OH" by H. Margaret Crawford PhD. The updated version was printed in 1976 in Poughkeepsie, NY No publisher's name. I think it was Self Published. There is an earlier version by her printed I think in the 1940's. I know several libraries in Ohio have the book, if you can't find it to buy. I know it is out of print. I searched all of my records and cannot find a M.A. Crawford b. abt 1818 in Ohio in my lines. As far as I can tell, there were 4 different distinct Crawford families in Adams county. The line I think your family may have come from arrived in the early 1800's from PA. Here is the quote from the book mentioned above. pg. 3 "Shortly after the end of the Revolutionary Was, Lieutenant John Crawford sold the family farm in Fayette Co. PA and settled on Iron Ridge, overlooking the Ohio River at the mouth of Brush Creek. He was the only son of Colonel William Crawford who was burned at the stake by the Indians in Sandusky County in 1782. John Crawford had married Frances Bradford in Pennsylvania and they had 7 children. 1. Moses Crawford. b. ca 1775, d. 1808 2. William Crawford b. 1776 d. 1840 He married Elizabeth Peterson, 7 Jun 1800 in Adams Co.and they had 5 children. He married 2nd. Jane Parcels in Butler Co., on June 24, 1822 and they had 2 children. 3. Hannah Pamelia Crawford died 1826 4. Richard Crawford, b. before 1782 d. 1822 He married Jennie Dickson, 17 July 1806 in Adams Co. and had 4 children. 5. Sarah Crawford, md. William Rowlands, 28 Feb. 1805 in Adams Co. 6. Mary Crawford married Thomas Cummings 7. George Washington Crawford b. 1790, d. 1871 He married Winnie Morrison 4 Dec 1817 in Lewis Co. KY. They had 13 children. John Crawford then married Effy Grimes on 30 Nov1797 in Adams Co. OH John, Effy, Hannah, Moses, George Washington and Winnie Crawford are all buried in the old Crawford cemetery on the Stephenson farm, east of Manchester." Of the 4 different Crawford families, this on seems the most likely as the others all arrived later or were born in Ireland in 1818. Hope this helps you, Pauli > > Do you know anything about an M. A. Hello all, Looking for some guidance. I recently visted the grave of my ggg-grandmother (Mary DeCamps Sparks wife of the George Sparks, Sr.) in the old Village Cemetery in West Union and found that the stone was broken in half due to age and weather. What is the usual process on having an old stone replaced and are there any recommendations on a vendor in the West Union area? Would be happy to share the cost with any other concerned relative who may be members of this list too! ;) Thanks. Carl Sparks
