Apparently they were in private hands, but not Ann Johnson's. They were given to Stephen Kelly, so he contacted Ethel, our President and in turn gave them to us. I want to let everyone know that there is going to be a rededication of the Wilson's Civil War Memorial June 6 & 7. (you can learn more at our site, www.rootsweb.com/~ohacgs/ ) This is being done by a group of local residence but we voted to participate. We will be having special hours, 10:00 - 4:00 both days & be in 1803 period costume. So that means if you come in from out of state you can visit our Library Thur. Noon-4, along with Fri. & Sat. 10 till 4! Other activities for this event include the 70 OVI Enactors Encampment, Lester V. Horwitz, author of "The Longest Raid", will do a presentation & book signing, Civil War Era Ball, West Union Cemetery Ghost Walk, & Parade. They are looking for descendants of the 70th OVI & others of military men to honor in this parade. Phil Hawkins is the one in charge and if you'd like to participate or have questions call him at 937-544-3232. -----Original Message----- From: Margaret L. Please do let the List know when they will be available. Where were these found? Were they something that perhaps Mrs. Johnson had?
Hello Fellow Adams County Researchers, Today I have wonderful news. Last night at the Adams Co. Gen Soc. meeting, President Ethel Chambers announced that a box of old wills had been given to our Society. These wills are in remarkable shape, page wise! The books are apart but to look at each will is amazing! She only had a few with her but she said to her knowledge they dated back to the 1830's!!! We decided last night that they would be our first digital publication! Since I'll pretty much be in charge of converting them to digital format, I hope to have them available by Summer 2003, at minimum a part. Unfortunately, they won't be on display to the public until after they've been logged, indexed, & copied. Which means we won't be able to do any look-up at this time either, but we should be able to in a few months! Keep checking our website for more details. We were so excited, these are records believed to have been destroyed in the 1910 fire! The interesting thing is that some are the replacement Wills after the fire, because the fire is mentioned in the Will. I realize this sounds like a teaser, by not doing look-ups, I just wanted to share the wonderful news & give everyone hope that we may now have something you've been longing for and thought was lost. I know I've very antsy to go through it myself. I'll keep you all updated on our progress! God Bless, Delsey
Listmembers, Does anyone have any information about the following couple who are listed as married for 0 yrs. and living in Rome on the 1900 Green Twp. census? Sumner ARMSTRONG, age 20, and Rosy B. Unknown, age 21, b. KY I haven't found Sumner in 1910. By 1913 Sumner has married someone else from the Wheelersburg area of Scioto Co. and they moved to St. Louis right away. Sumner died in 1938 in St. Louis. Sumner is listed as "Willis" on the 1880 census when he was an infant and he used the name "Willis" in St. Louis. It isn't clear whether his name was "Willis Sumner Armstrong" or "Sumner Willis Armstrong." Sumner was my grandfather's brother and I have info. on the Armstrongs, but what was Rosy's maiden name? Did Sumner and Rosy divorce or did she die? Did Sumner and Rosy have any children? Herma Armstrong near Buffalo, NY [email protected]

She was the daughter of William Thomas "Tom" and Tabitha (McDowell) Duncan. The last record of Rutha is the 1880 Lewis county census. At that time she was living with her widowed mother at Quincy. I have found two additional records for Tabitha -- The 1890 Civil War pension index and the actual pension records, which show that she died April 28th,1906 in Lewis county. Have not been able to find a marriage record for Ruth or a 1900 census record for either Ruth or Tabitha. Help!
Hi, Thanks. We have this already. Would you happen to know the maiden name and parents of William's wife Eliza???? Is William's parents John Bradford & Mary Hill???? Thank you for your help. Bradford's children, and Catherine does not appear to have survived to the 1860 Census, nor thereafter. More importantly, it seems pretty solid from evidence that Shirley Ramsey has been shown, that William C. Bradford had a brother Charles H. Bradford. There seems to be no Charles in the John Bradford/Liney Ayles line. Also, in messages on the Genealogy.com site by Marcia Crabtree (Bradford Family forum), the son of John and Linney is William Oliver, born 1831, and married Charlotte Truit. Census forms in 1850 list 20 year old Oliver Bradford living with Oliver Kilgore and Liney (and Jacob and Lydia) There no doubt is some relationship, because so many Bradfords were in Adams Co., but I haven't seen anything clear. As to Mary A. and Vina, the 1900 census shows that Harrison Bradford was widowed, so it is possible one of them was his wife. They are, however, marked as illiterates, and born in Ohio according to my aunt's census forms. In 1900, Harrison was iving in Aberdeen, Brown Co and had 3 children: son Wylie R. (19) daughters Myrtle E. (16) Estell M. (4). The 1900 census shows that the childrens' mother was born in Kentucky.
