I am still looking for a possible connection to gg-grandfather, Thomas KENNEDY, b. 10 Aug. 1793, in either VA or OH...possibly VA Military District? He was in Huntington Twp, Brown Co OH, in 1830--and in 1834 purchased land in Buck Crk Twp, Hancock Co IN. His children, Mary Jane, b 1826 m. John UNDERWOOD, b abt 1805, in KY (he came from Harrison KY after 1830 to Hancock Co IN), second husband of Mary Jane, Frederick HENDRICKS, b abt 1811-12 KY; Eliza Ann b abt 1827, m Christopher RULEY; Sarah m. George HUDSON: Nancy Susan b abt 1844 m. Nathan JOHNSON, in Hamilton Co IN; James Levi m. Lucinda McMullen STRICKLAND, in St Joseph, Buchanan Co MO: There was one son whose name was Franklin *Newland* KENNEDY, b abt 1840, in Hancock Co IN. Additional children were Charles Francis and Ellen Mary,b after 1868 and who both went by the surname SMITH and removed to Rice Co MO, in 1876, before the death of Thomas KENNEDY which occurred 12 Dec. 1876. Their mother was Mary Ann Underwood SMITH. I have wondered whether the middle name NEWLAND may be the maiden name of Thomas KENNEDY'S spouse, Mary, who was b. about 1805, in OH. He is listed in the 1850 census as being 37. Also, do you have a positive on Henry and Frank? The reason I ask is that both were born after the last census information I have and, Nancy Grooms would have been 55 at Henry's birth and a whopping 61 at Frank's birth. 1862 is surprisingly close to my great grandfather's birth year and if the information you have is from a later census the "Frank" may have been my grandfather who often did go to stay with Samuel Cooper and Nancy grooms during his childhood. (Although I just recently found out who his grandparents were). That would be my hunch, and Henry may be a descendant of George W. Crosswhaite, Jr....? As Francis Marion (aka "Frank") didn't have a son "Henry", but traveled with George to Adams County, went to school there (George Jr, went to school there). Charlotte
