Father was Daniel, David, or D.T. He died elsewhere, the paper carried a brief death notice, did not say where he died. If this is the right Davis, his daughter's 1880 census record says he was b. in S.C.

Davis was probably born 31 Jul 1777 in Hagerstown, Maryland but do not know if this is correct. I have Mary McCormick being born 1Oct 1777 probably in Pa. She is the Daughter of William McCormick and Ophelia Crawford. Mary is buried in Adams County Ohio. Does this agree with your info? Thanks Larry

I research through familysearch.org and ancestry.com. In one of these, I found a William L. Davis (07/31/1777) with the following children: Josiah Davis 10/07/1798, Eliza Davis 11/25/1800, Mary Davis 1/30/1804, William Davis 03/11/1806, Anne Davis 08/05/1809, Jane B. Davis 07/08/1811, Joshua Davis 11/23/1813-11/23/1813, and James Davis 04/20/1817. I have seen several listings with only 2 children, though. What do you think? Barbara
