Nelson left Adams Co. in 1861 to enlist in the 70th Ohio Volunteer Infantry (he was 20 years old). He was not mustered out until late 1865 and in 1866 he relocated to Logansport, IN, where he lived into his 90s. It is possible there is some relationship between the families. As I mentioned, JCN's 1880 census form (he was then in Logansport) states that both his parents were born in New Jersey. Regards,

I think my Nelson search is going to be hard. I just received Rosa [Nelson] Newman's death certificate. And it is my G-Grandma for sure. I jumped all over the place for joy. The certificate says her name is Rozetta Newman. She was married to David W. Newman. She was born in 1960 and it says in Scioto County. Yet another place for her birth. She died in 1936 and is buried in Sandy Springs Cemetery, Adams County.I know this is her because her daughter and also my great aunt Grace [Newman] Webb signed her informant. Now the good news, I have her parents...Her father is Arthur Nelson and her mother Elizabeth Freeland. Now the bad news...I can't find these people in any census. Nor can I find Lewis Finley her brother in the 1870 census or Rosa. So here I go again. Lewis named one of his sons Arthur Wayne Nelson. Arthur for his father and Wayne for Rosa's husband, my g-grandfather maybe. I hope we find these families are related so it might help us. In 1880 your John and my Rosa were in Green Township at the same time maybe they were brother and sister. Well let me know what you think. Your truly, Brenda Moss

Hello List, I am trying to locate the place and date of death for my gggrandparents, Johnathan and Elisa (Robbin) BURRIS According to the 1900 census they were both living in Adams co., Winchester Twp. both age abt 68 yrs old, could not locate them in 1910, but Elisa shows up in Highland co. as a widow. Any information for Johnathan and Elisa is greatly appreciated, would also like to find their date, place of marriage and parents names. Thank you for your time and any information you could offer, Diane
I would second this. I know that my ancestors had a deep suspicion of the government and really weren't all that happy about giving the government any information they didn't feel it needed. Matter of fact we're still like that today <g>... Information on a census may have felt "intrusive" to your relatives and they may have just given whatever they felt like at the time. Leedom, William Sr. d:14 March 1850 85 yrs, 6 mo, 8 days Bentonville Union Church Cem Sprigg Twp . It don't show Elizabeth's there. But there was a Leedom Burial ground in Sprigg Twp that a Ann Johnson and Lynn Fisher had copied in 1960. Notes by Ann Johnson William Leedom Sr. d:14 March 1850, portion of stone giving age is broken, She states that he was in the War of 1812, and that his wife was Elizabeth Edgington, a daughter of George Edgington and that George was a Rev. War veteran. William Leedom's stone is now in the Bentoville Union Churchyard Cem, probably placed there by interested persons to prevent it's being lost. One other grave was found there. Do you have any information on his son William Jr. who married a Warner? I'm trying to find anything I can on the Warner family. Eileen Iowa
