    1. [OHADAMS] Custer/Kitchen/Bird/Peters Connections
    2. I thought I'd show you this new schematic on the CUSTER/KESTER connections to Peters. I was looking on-line and found a James Beggs m. a Mary Custer(cousin to Elizabeth Custer, who married James Cain). In this website, it says, James Beggs was the son of Thomas Beggs and Sarah Barnes. Thomas died in 1780 and Sarah remarried to Stephen Ruddell(married a Mary Bird 1st, she also died about 1780). Any other connections that you can see in the schematic below?: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/attachment/an/surnames.bird/1408.7/attachmen t-1/PTic4qJxTaYDdWdj8VccyB/KUSTER_Revisited_NLB.jpg You should be able to click on the above link and see all the close connections. If you want to see more connections these related families click on the below link and open the files attached to each Query. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/message/an/surnames.bird/1408?m=1408.5 John

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YYB.2ACI/1652 Message Board Post: HAR is introducing a brand new CD product: 1868 Atlas of the State of Ohio. The 68 page atlas has been scanned at 400 dpi and presented in high quality Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). The viewing software, Acrobat Reader, is included on each CD. This is a departure from our indiana and Illinois Atlas CD's in that it is more like an e-book than a series of 19th century county maps. There is quite a bit of statistical data and text in this product including sections on: Agriculture, Canals, Climate Map, Climatology, Colleges, County Evolution, Land Grants of Ohio, Geological Map, Geology, History, Schools and Seminaries, Post Offices, Railways, Statistics and Surveys of Ohio. The Atlas contains multiple adjacent county maps that are useful for identifying 1868 transportation routes, railroads, canals and many early Ohio place names. The 25 city maps in the Atlas are much more detailed with many early government and industrial sites including: a variety of mills, cemeteries, churches, schools, asylums, fair grounds, race tracks, business locations, etc. This is an informative snapshot of mid 19th century Ohio and is recommended for anyone interested in undertaking historical or genealogical research of this period. A complete Table of Contents and examples taken from the Atlas can be viewed at the following link: 1868 Ohio Atlas web page: http://www.har-indy.com/oh_map/oh_index.html 1876 Indiana county maps: http://www.har-indy.com/in_map/in_index.html 1876 Illinois county maps: http://www.har-indy.com/il_map/il_index.html All are also available at our eBay store: http://www.stores.ebay.com/historicatlasseriesbyhar?refid=store Thanks for looking. 1. Re: [OHADAMS] Searching for Cluxton
    2. Hi Jim, Thanks for the quick response. I have run across that name but cannot tie it into my Cluxton family. By the way, I notice you live in Darke County. We're almost neighbors, I live in Montgomery County. I have found a second cousin, Lewis Cluxton, son of Harry who is the brother of my grandfather. Lewis lives within 15 minutes of me and I have just recently visited with him, but he knows little of his family. From what I can gather, William H. Cluxton was the son of George R. of Adams County. George was the son of John who died in Adams Co., and John was the son of Robert who was born in Ireland and died in either New Jersey or New York, but his children and his wife journeyed on to Adams County and that is where his wife Mary died in 1825. Other than this direct line, I have very little on the Cluxton family. Where do you fit in? Susan near Dayton

The copies are at the health dept. Birth and death records are after 1908 with very little in those years. The health dept. had a index type file system for public use and it seems the public has taken some of the records. Anyway, there never was a lot in the years 1908-1920's.

    1. [OHADAMS] Murphys and Millers
    2. Joe and Sharon Mills
    3. I'm sending this querry to both lists, since the marriages occurred in what was then Adams County; however, the Millers in whom I am interested appear to have lived in Byrd township, which later became Brown County. I looked at early Miller marriages in Adams County, where my ggg grandparents, James Miller and Salley Sherry were married. Their son John married a Nancy Murphy. A Miller cousin reports that James Miller's sister Susan married a John Murphy, but I have not found this marriage license information myself. Does anyone know about Miller and Murphy connections in Adams/Brown Cos? I also noticed a coincidental marriage of Elizabeth Miller, widow, to a James Williams, who was in Byrd township about when James and Sarah were there. Is anyone studying Byrd township Millers? If you are studying Sherrys (descendants of Daniel B Sherry and Nancy Devore), I have more information. Sharon Mills The following marriages were found in Marriage book 1 (only the marriages performed in Byrd township designated the township): David Miller and Catherine STUDDYBAKER c 1799 Elizabeth Miller and James Horn c 1803 Benjamin Painter and Catherine Miller c 1805 Elizabeth Miller (widow) and James Williams this one in Byrd Twp by Joseph Newman, JP Westley Hathaway and Jane Miller c 1807 John Gilliland and Polly Miller c 1807 Robert Miller and Elizabeth Worstett c 1811 James Miller and Salley Sherry Oct 15 1809 by Berry Sutton Sr, JP in Byrd Twp, recorded Nov 11 1809
