I've been trying to find where I put all my ancestry papers in the storage room, but I can't seem to find them. I've got a couple other people to answer, too, but I need some time. I'll post as soon as I can locate the papers. I have a kind of tree I got from Wayne County, NY that was made up a long time ago by someone. It's really neat.

Surnames: Moore Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YYB.2ACI/1904 Message Board Post: Here is a little information about Moore’s getting their DNA tested. It really is a very easy process. You can just order the test kit from www.familytreedna.com. They mail you two little scrapers. You scrape the inside of you cheek. It does not hurt. Left cheek one morning; the right cheek the next. You put the scrapers in a little plastic bottle and mail them off. Then you wait several weeks (6) and you will receive your results and all of your matches. Hopefully you will match me. Then the fun begins. I have found lots of lost cousins and have proven at least one cousin was not really my cousin. That was the hard part. I had my DNA tested at www.familytreedna.com. You will get it done cheaper if you join and have it tested through the Moore-Worldwide group. We receive a discount. Go to http://small-stuff.com/MOORE/. We are pretty much the only Moore group that is active in the www.familytreedna.com Moore groups. The 12-marker test cost $99. That's a good one to start with. The 37-marker test is $189. The 25-marker test is $148 and the 67-marker is $269. I have received my 12, 25, and 37 marker results a long time ago. I am waiting for my 67 marker results. They should be in any day now. I have matched 404 other people with my DNA thus far. Most are on the 12-marker test, but several are on the more helpful 25 and 37 marker tests. There is no use spending the extra money for the 67-marker test right off. If you don't match anyone on the 12, you can just wait until you do. However, if you do match someone you should upgrade to a higher marker test. The more markers the better. I started with the 37-marker and matched people on 37 markers right off. Another Moore researcher that I thought was my cousin started with the 37-marker, because I recommended him to do so, but he has never matched any Moore’s. If you are short on money, only do the 12-marker test and see what happens. If money is no issue, just going straight for the 67-marker test will save you time and money. You can see the results of all the Moore’s that belong to this group at this link http://small-stuff.com/MOORE/results.htm. Just looking at this site will be helpful to many. www.familytreedna.com has tons of useful information about the ins and outs of having you DNA tested and what it means. Remember don’t order your test straight through them. Order it through the Moore Worldwide group and you will receive a discounted rate.

Surnames: Moore, Flaugher Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YYB.2ACI/1903 Message Board Post: Does anyone know anything about Daniel Moore & Elizabeth Davidson and their descendants? According to the book, "History of Brown County, Ohio" published in Chicago in 1883 by W. H. Beers & Co. on page 163 he was a solider in the war of 1812. He and his wife "settled in Adams County, Ohio in 1797." This could be John Sherman Moore's uncle. The book, First Census of Kentucky 1790, by G. M. Brumbaugh, M.D. lists only two Samuel Moore’s in Kentucky and no Daniel Moore’s in Kentucky. One of the Samuel Moore’s is living in Fayette Co. and the other in Lincoln Co., Kentucky. On page 163 of the book, History of Brown County, Ohio 1883 by Beers, I find reference to Daniel Moore. An Elizabeth Moore (wife of Aaron Pence) is mentioned as being the daughter of Daniel and Lizzie Davidson Moore, of Virginia, who settled in Adams Co, Ohio in 1797. Samuel died in 1815 and was a soldier in war of 1812. They had 13 children. None by name of John. This Pence family, which Elizabeth Moore married into, is married into the Flaugher family. Samuel and Elizabeth Moore Pence’s son married Naomi Flaugher, who is Jacob Flaugher’s daughter. This information is on page 174 of the same book. Naomi Flaugher married Daniel Pence 28 Dec 1854. She was born in Huntington Township, Brown Co., Ohio. He was born Aug 1830 in Sprigg Twp, Adams Co., Ohio. Her father, Jacob’s father was Adam Flaugher. Adam Flaugher is Sarah Ann Flaugher’s father. Sarah Ann Flaugher married our John Sherman Moore. Sarah Ann Flaugher and Naomi Flaugher ! are 1st cousins. Their common ancestors are Adam Flaugher and Catherine Ann Hidler. I think this Moore family is tied into ours. The book, Early Ohioans’ Residences From The Land Grant Records compiled by Mayburt Stephenson Riegel, published in 1976 by the Ohio Genealogical Society, PO Box 2625, Mansfield, Ohio 44906, has a record of a Daniel Moore. This book was written for genealogist. It gives where the men lived when the land grants were awarded. When Daniel Moore’s land grant was awarded he lived in Hamilton County on 18 February 1806. In the 1876 Atlas, the map shows Daniel Moore lived next to William Harrison Simpson, Eleanor’s ancestor, who was married to Diana Moore. Two of Daniel's daughters married Pences: Harriet m. George Pence Elizabeth m.
