Cleveland, April 18 - wreck occurred on the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway at 6:10 o'clock this morning in which a brakeman named TICE, of Cleveland, was instantly killed. James HUMMELL, the fireman, of Canton, was badly crushed and may die, and RINZINBINK, Canton, the engineer, sustained a broken leg. R. BROGIO, a laborer, was seriously injured. The injured were taken to St. Alexis Hospital. The wreck occurred near Hamm Street, in the south end of Cleveland. A long freight train, coming north from Canton, collided with a work train running down from the Cleveland terminus. There is a curve at the place where the accident occurred. The curve, however, is not sharp one and fails to explain the wreck. Both engines were badly wrecked, as were all the cars of the freight train. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ OH-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
