Ravenstat of the Army Field Artillery and Lt. Edward O. Hubbard of the Medical Corps were awarded the Soldiers Medal for herosim. They rescued their companions when a flying boat aircraft overturned in the water. Pvt. Ravenstat rescued a soldier who was pinned down by a machine gun and crawled through a broken window to a wing. Dragged under by another soldier who had been rescued unconscious from the cabin, Revenstat freed himself, regained the wing, and lifted up the unconscious soldier to the wing. Lt. Hubbard, after escaping to the wing, swam back through the window and brought out two men to safety.
