Her Throat Cut and Fingers Severed by a Young Man. Marietta, Ohio, Jan. 5. - Miss Nellie MORRIS, eighteen years old, was assaulted last evening at Hackney, Morgan county. She was on her way from the postoffice through the fields. She was accosted by Walter A. WEINSTOCK, who lived hear her home. She screamed and fought. Then WEINSTOCK took a razor from his pocket and drew it across her neck, laying bare the jugular vein. She seized the razor with her hands and her fingers were cut off. Attending physicians say her death is only a matter of a few hours. Weinstock was caught by a crowd of men, bound hands and feet, and removed to a building, where a number of men watched over him. A telephone message was sent to McConnellsville for officers to come and get him. There is much talk of lynching. WEINSTOCK recently returned from the reformatory, where he served a term for attempting to kill his father, Jacob WEINSTOCK, a rich farmer of Morgan county. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ OH-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
