    1. [OH-MIAMI-CO] Re: Early McKinney Family
    2. Why don't you write me off the message board? We can exchange information that we have. Known siblings and parents and spouses. Census information etc. I keep making little bits of headway by examining context and surrounding information rather than always going straight down the road. The more information we exchange, the better opportunity we have of seeing if there is a link or not with these McKINNEY and LOVE families.

    2. Could be??? The only William I have born before 1871, is William L.. He did have a brother, Reuben D.. Reuben is listed next door to him in the 1850 Census in Wapello Co., IA.. Reuben is also listed in the 1830 Miami Co., OH. Census with William L.. We do know for sure that our William L. died by 1855, as his son Riley was born after his father died. The interesting part of this, is I truly believe William L. had another family before he married Elizabeth Pinor in 1846. He had a family in the 1830 Miami Co. Census that does not match anything in the 1850 Census??? You could have the missing family, but as yet, I have no way to prove that????

    2. Have found more information. Looks like my George W. Mckinney is on the 1860 Iowa Van Buren Village Township census. Listed with wife and a number of children. What's interesting is that my family had reported none of these children except one (the ones I knew about were born post 1860)...but my family had said a child or step-child was named Eli, relationship uncertain. Over in the 1860 Iowa Van Buren Washington Township census there is a William McKinney, of an age to be a brother to my George, who has, among his children, a son named Eli. William McKinney is given as born in Ohio, and his wife, Esther, in PA. I have discovered that this William McKinney died 1862 in the Civil War and several of his children entered the Davenport home for Civil War Orphans. What do you think? Is it possible we may be able to make a connection? (I've tried to find out what happened to these children and have learned nothing. I contacted the Iowa Historical Society and they have no! other records for them except that they entered the orphanage.)

    1. [OH-MIAMI-CO] Re: Gangloffs of Schuylkill County, PA
    2. I too, have tried to fit the Gangloff lineage together and offer another Gangloff to the list. Johannes and Christina came from Wurtemberg in 1832 and are in Mahoning County in the 1850 census. My g grandfather John was born in Columbiana Ohio in 1839 and has two siblings born in 1832 and 1836 unknown where. Perhaps this may be part of the missing link?? I have been unable to find any connection that confirms this, other than family tales that talk of missing brothers similar to your stories.. Johannes & Christina are listed as being born in Hochdorf, Vailhagen in 1800 and 1802 respectively, however I cannot confirm this information. Am still searching and looking for any info that may help all of us determine what and who goes with whom. Also I have an obit for Phillip in Wyandotte Cty indicating he was from Alsace, but cannot connect him to my lineage. If any of this helps, feel free to reply.
