I have just received a genealogical bombshell! First of all, I wrote to the Diocese of Cleveland for some records, using their online research form and received their response in less than a week! But my true bombshell is that I asked for the baptismal record of my great grandfather, Philip Goldrick, basically hoping to connect with other family through learning the names of the sponsors. But what I learned was that his father's name was Miles Goldrick, as I had always known, but his mother's name was given as Margaret COONEY! I had always thought her name was Margaret Burns. That was the name given on Philip Goldrick's death certificate as the name of his mother. Now, it seems I will have to go back and start all over again. In a way, this makes some sort of sense: Miles Goldrick's brother, Owen, was married to Maria Cooney, May 29, 1851, in St. John's Cathedral -- I wonder if they were sisters? I know there is at least one person on this board researching the Cooney family ... if you read this, please tell me what you think and how this might fit in with your research. Janet Goldrick Friend
