    1. Re: Cleveland Diocese
    2. Hi Judy! It may have been me. You found data re: my great grandparents Henry Thomas FRIEL and his wife Margaret (nee COONEY). It was a death certificate for their youngest daughter Margaret who died at about 20 days old. They lived in the Angle at a few different addresses on Washington Street and also Mulberry (per my mother). Margaret (Peggy) died in 1909. In the 1900 Census her brother Edward is living with them, a man of approx. 65 years of age. He is not in the 1910 census. By the 1920 census my great grandfather is living with his daughter Agnes and husband KENNEDY on Joan Ave. in St. Ignatius Parish. Oral history has that both my g grandparents had siblings living in Cleveland. I just can't get a definite connection to any FRIEL or COONEY. The COONEY origins are Achill and the FRIEL are the Westport area, possibly Bohea. Both per census emigrated here in 1865. They were married at St. Malachi's in 1870. An old picture I have, has a man, my mother identified as Mike FRIEL, my grandfather Anthony (Tony) FRIEL'S cousin. Also, my mother said her Gran had a brother John COONEY who she thinks married a FRIEL. The records on Achill for my great grandmother are nil until I can come up with more sibling/parents names or nicknames since she was born pre 1864. COONEY is such a common name there and here! As an aside, my cousin Martin MCFADDEN in Streamstown, is married to an Ann COONEY (no relation) from Achill! Mary Ellen Chambers
