Catholic Universe Bulletin Nov 25 1955 Dies at 76 after last-chance trip back to Ireland It was his last chance, said Tom Maher, so he was going to take it. After 50 years away, the gentle old Irishman went back to his native soil las summer, to the seaside resort of Duncannon his home town in County Wexford. He stayed three months visiting relatives there and in Dublin. Mr. Maher died at 76 last week Thursday. He collapsed outside the home of his son, John, at 112 E. 204th St., returning for lunch from his noon trick as a crossing guard at Euclid Shore School. Solemn requiem mass was offered for Mr. Maher Monday in St. Robert Belarmine Church. Burial was in Calvary. He leaves his wife, Catherine; a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Geraghty; nine grandchildren; brothers, Timothy, Duncannon; John, Kansas City, Mo., and sisters, Molly, Dublin, and Margaret, Duncannon.
