    1. Re: ACHILL ISLAND, COUNTY MAYO
    2. To all who have mentioned this book: The book by Fr. Nelson Callahan & William Hickey, "Irish-Americans ;and Their Communities of Cleveland," is supposedly out of print. It was a project of the Cleveland Ethnic Heritage Studies of Cleveland State University and was made possible by a grant from The George Gund Foundation. I believe Fr. Callahan was the Diocesan Archivist at this time. This book was written when tracing your Irish roots was in its infancy. I believe that much more is now known regarding the movement of the Cleveland Irish. From my own family research, I have found there was movement of Irish from West side to East side in maybe much greater numbers than originally thought. Does anyone have any thoughts on this regarding their own research? This book is available for reference at the Fairview Park Regional Library on Lorain Rd. Carolyn

    3. Dear Carolyn, My Great-Grandparents, Margaret (Feely)Gaffney and Patrick Gaffney lived on the East side. So did Margaret's sister Josephine (Feely) Parks. I agree with the moving from the west to east too.
