My gg grandfather, Thomas Dowe, emmigrated from Ireland to french Canada in the 1840's. From there my g grandfather immigrated to Cleveland around 1865. Can any one tell me where a likely place was where people came over the border? I understand that it was just a matter of hopping over the border, no paperwork involved. I don't know where they lived in Canada (except it was french) and am grasping at straws, as to where to look for them . Thanks to anyone who might help. Loretta Wilhelm in Seattle
