    1. Re: Cleveland City Directory listings for McManaman (rel. to MURPHY & GALLAGHER)
    2. Thanks, Janet There is every possibility that both of the listings are my Thomas McMANAMAN. Both are new to me and I appreciate your kind offer & your time. Thomas name is found under several incorrect spellings in Cleveland records. His m. rec. to Anna MURPHY showed McMannum. The Church record showed McManum for both Thomas & his witness, Michael McMANUM. The birth of the first daughter gives the name as McMANAMY and again Michael, a sponsor, is spelled the same way. I'd guess Michael was Thomas's brother. I suspect they may have been together before Thomas' 1856 marriage to Anna MURPHY. The only City Directory address that I have and am sure of was the 1875-6 listing: McMANEMAY, Thos. Lab. r. 85 Gordon av. I would not have taken this for McManaman except that the address was given on the birth record for his youngest daughter, Anna, on Jan 7, 1877. It is the only Cleveland record where the name McMANAMAN was spelled correctly. Wedding witnesses: Michael McManum & Anna Galligan (McMANAMAN & GALLAGHER?) Anna Murphy's mother was Mary GALLAGHER (Mrs. John MURPHY) Baptismal witnesses: Michael McMANAMY & Bridget KERINS (McMANAMAN & KERNS?) John & Catherine GALLAGHER Patrick & Bridget FERGUS John MURPHY & Catherine SLEVIN (Anna's brother) Patrick & Anna KERNS (KERINS?) Michael & Katherine GAVIN Thanks again, Jo
