    3. Hi Mary Ellen, I was curious if you know of any good sources of information (online, etc) for Wexford. The early indications I have is that my father's side of the family, the Fortunes are from Wexford. I'm just trying to put together a list of resources I might contact, and you have already been a wealth of information on my mother's (Gibbons) side of the family in Mayo. Thanks again as always, Cliff Fortune Kansas City, MO -----Original Message----- From: Maryln61@aol.com [mailto:Maryln61@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2003 3:34 PM To: OH-CLEVELAND-IRISH-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: OH-CLEVELAND-IRISH-D Digest V03 #52 Annie~ My husband Jack's maternal side is from Wexford. In fact, they still live there. Rathangan is a Catholic Parish, the church is directly across the road from O'Brian's Temple Bar which is owned by Jack's cousin Philip O'Brian. Most of the CLEARY family were baptized, married, and buried from there. This CLEARY family, American branch are Lakewood. CLEARY Real Estate, Rex Plumbing, former judge Pat CLEARY, CLEARY Construction, etc., are my husband's family. In Wexford among the townlands associated with that church are Blackstone (family home from 1798 is there), Kilmore Quay, Duncormick. The parish of Kilmore is down the road but not sure if some of Kilmore Quay records are there and at Rathangan. The records for the village of Kilmore Quay are not at the RC church there but at the church at Kilmore the next village over. The townland of Neimstown is in Kilmore parish where Jack's other set of grandparents the CLARKE's emigrated. I'll check the records to see what I have on HOGANS. The records from 1822 to 1854 are not at the Heritage Center nor do we have them. They were considered too fragile but they are at the Rathangan Church. We made an appointment to get the ancestors for that period years ago when getting data for Irish Citizenship. We obtained our copy from a family friend who worked on getting them to computer and was a member of the County Council, Rory Murphy. Mary Ellen Chambers Lakewood Ohio

    2. Karen Goggin
    3. Is anyone else on the list researching Madigans? I am especially interested in the James P. Madigan line in the 1870 census living in the same residence with John F. Goggin and his wife Mary. James has a wife and child. His son John F. Madigan (born later) is named for John. I believe James to be a cousin to John and immigrated with him in August of 1868 from the County Cork/Kerry boarder area. James' grandchildren's' names ( found in census records and obituaries) are familiar from conversations of Aunts. I believe that several of the children and grandchildren went into the church. Many Thanks, Karen Goggin _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

    2. About 3 years ago, we dropped off Wexford birth and marriage records for Rathangan to Lonnie McCauley just before she passed. We paid an entrance fee, saw Lonnie and went to the desk to ask about data re: The Angle. The girl at the desk said for this one time she would allow us to use a few books she would get for us. However, after that one occasion we would be required to have membership for further research. Therefore, we joined that very week. With membership, we pay no fee each visit, just parking. However, anyone who is interested in a one occasion should contact them for clarification. They are online. There is just so much there that one visit is just the tip of the ice burg so to speak! 3. I was there a few weeks ago. You pay your fee for the day and do your research. Parking is at a premium though. There is a pay lot across from the Society which is good choice if you are going to spend the entire day doing research. I found that for periods up to 2 hrs. the metered parking on Magnolia was a better deal. 1. Lynne Contact the Cuyahoga County Archives. They have served me very well in matching an address to a name for a particular year. You can find the addresses that would attach to a name of a person or a business. They have sent me copies of pages with a paticular surname for consecutive years. Very helpful and only about $.25 per page. I don't have the URL right now but do a Google search. Bill Dalton in Gig Harbor, WA
