1. Re: Mary Corrigan
2. My great-grandmother Catherine Corrigan was born April 24, 1874 in Co Mayo, Ireland. Her parents were James Corrigan and Mary Sweeney. Came to Cleveland and met and married Thomas McCann from Lisacul, Currahard, (Co, Roscommon). They married at St. Edwards Parish in Cleveland. I do not have the date of the marriage. My great aunt was born in 1895, so I suspect it maid was maybe 1894. Also, I understand that she first went to England and worked at a bakery to earn money to immigrate to Cleveland. She had a brother, Thomas that immigrated to San Fransisco, California. I have recently requested Thomas' death certificate from California. Am hopeing to get it soon. She also had 2 other brothers, and one sister, don't know where they went, if anywhere. Also there is another Corrigan line in Cleveland. My cousin married Patrick Corrigan- at this time we have not connected the lines. In what County is Tyrone, Termonmaquirk? For any genealogy in Ireland, usually you don't find birth certificates for that time period. However, within a day or so of birth, the children were baptised and that is the record you will find. So try the Catholic church first. Generally I have found that people immigrate to locations where there are other relatives or other people from their village that went to that location. Kathy Ochs

1. Mary Corrigan
2. Recently I found my Corrigan cousins in Ireland, but I also found that I had 6 Guncles and 1 Gaunt to search for.My problem is I have never searched for a female relative before and I need help.Mary Corrigan was b1858 in Tyrone,Parish of Termonmaquirk and I have found 2 Mary's in the 1880 US census, one in NY & one in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Ohio. If she is married before next census I will not know her married name I am sure this has happen before and I am looking for help from those of you who have had to face the same problem. If this had happened to me a few months ago I would have given up and stopped searching.I received a email from a person asking for help searching Corrigans in Tyrone and in helping him I found a Corrigan that led me to my new found cousins.TIA George Corrigan Buffalo NY

1. COUNTY ARCHIVES PRESERVATION FUND
2. Ingrid Abram
3. The first volume of marriage records for Cuyahoga County have been archivally preserved--thanks to all the donations received. These records would not have lasted for another century, and we are just thankful that they were intact after 200 years. There are names of early settlers from Massachusetts, Vermont, New York, and Connecticut some of who have Mayflower ancestry. Most have Revolutionary War connections. We want to thank all those who gave and made this possible. The second marriage volume will be next for preservation. Any amount given is most appreciated. If when you request information from the Archives, you could add an additonal $1 or whatever you might like to donate, it would be added to the fund. But it must be marked CAGG Preservation Fund. (Otherwide, it goes in the general fund of the county for operating expenses.) Many thanks again, Ingrid Abram

1. Obituary for Lucinda SOMERVILLE, b. Co. Fermanagh 1806, d. Cleveland 1/25/1875
2. Janet
3. Among my papers I have just found a lengthy "memorial" for "Lucinda Somerville, beloved wife of Corry Somerville, eldest daughter of Thomas Simonton, Esq., and Margaret Shaw of County Fermanagh." She married Corry Somerville in 1834 and emigrated to Rochester, N.Y. the same year. They moved to Cleveland in 1864 and she died there January 25, 1875. It is a copy of a newspaper article which I suspect I copied for someone on this list several years ago, when I was reading microfilm of the Cleveland newspapers. I am not related to this person, but if any of you happen to be related or know someone who is, let me know and I will send the article. Janet Friend

1. County Wexford BM Records
2. I recently sent my records for Rathangan Parish County Wexford to the CMCRP site. They have transcribed them. The site: www.cmcrp.net I have shared my data with some of the Cleveland list when a look up was requested. Here is the total record. It was given to us by a member of the County Council who had transcribed them for the Wexford Heritage Society. The years approx. 1826 to 1856 are missing. They do exist and are at the parish house in Rathangan. Just too fragile to be transcribed. My husband's grandfather was in the book for 1852. We photographed the page and received a baptismal certificate we needed for Irish citizenship. This site also has records shared for other counties. Directions are given for anyone who wishes to donate data. Mary Ellen Chambers Lakewood Ohio

2. Barb........I made another call to the Archives and talked to Judy, the manager. The address that Ingrid just sent is the only one to use; and it has been working. Judy received an email today from Bill Dalton. She said to make sure that you do not put an "s" at the end of "archive". archive@www.cuyahoga.oh.us There are a couple of old addresses out there, on printed material, that no longer work. She is going to contact their technical people again and inform them that people are still having trouble getting through..........Pat

3. Pat, I have never used the form, but I have sent e-mail requests several times in the past few months without an answer. I sent them to the address recently given by Ingrid, to which I get an undeliverable mailer daemon. I even called the archives with a question about property, and while I had the person on the phone I asked them to check to see if the e-mail address was correct, and they said yes. So, the next e-mail went out, and lo and behold--same problem! I don't live in Cleveland, so if snail mail gets spotty answers and e-mail gets few answers, what can a person do? 2. In the past, I have contacted the archives via e-mail and gotten the usual good results. Now, I have seen postings where the e-mail part might not be working all that well. I just now called the archives, 216-443-7250, and got a message. They are apparently still in existance but will return local calls only. Since I live in Washington State, that seems to make a return call rather remote. Perhaps someone in Cleveland can make a call and find out for all of us what is going on and what might be the current URL (if they have changed things). Bill Dalton Gig Harbor, WA

1. St. Patrick Anniversary
2. Does anyone on the list have the particulars re: August 10 celebration of St. Patrick Bridge Ave. Anniversary? My husband and I would like to attend. Heard about it through the "grapevine" but no definite information. We both had strong links to the parish in its early years especially. Per oral history my husband's grandparents were the first couple married in the church after the fire (1878) John and Anna (nee CLARKE) CLEARY from County Wexford. They lived at 1863 W 48th, raising their children there. My parents last home in the parish was at 1848 W. 47 St. My Gran Mary Ellen (nee MCFADDEN) FRIEL moved in 1947 after the neighborhood began a post WW II decline and my grandfather Tony had died. My parents were married therein 1935 and I was baptized. Dad worked the BINGO game in the late 1930 and early 1940s. Both our extended families worshiped, attended school, were married and most incidences were buried. I am sure many list members have the same history from their parents etc. Mary Ellen Chambers Lakewood OHio
