    2. Hello Janet, If your offer still stands, I need a look up for a Renrew C. Spence. I have him marring much later in 1887, there in Cleveland. But I have nothing else on him except that he had been living on Lawn Ave, before he married. I am assuming that at this time he would have been a minor child. Have found nothing on him other than the above street, stated in an old letter. It was in such bad condition the only thing that could be read was part of the address, on the envelope. We have no clue to who his family was except that every one claims he was Scottish. If I don't have enough infromation I do understand. And will have to wait until I can try and order from our local Family History Center. Thank you, Diana Johnson

    3. Pat, The Third Order of St Francis is a group of Lay Catholics who practice the Disciplines of Daily life as St. Francis led in the early Christian Communities. It is still a Nation-Wide Group. I will try to find my Catholic Almanac that has their mailing address and give it to you. (Will probably be next week as I have a house full of guests this weekend.) 1. Re: Parish information
    2. Jerry & Sherry Haynes
    3. Janet, The interesting thing about Catholics, is that everything on you regarding Sacraments is carried by the Parish you were baptized in.... For example you were baptized at St Patricks on Bridge in Cleveland, later made your First Confession then Holy Communion at Our Lady of Angels, then were Confirmed at Annunciation, and married at Holy Rosary, and then Divorced, finally you die, and were buried from St. Richard's in North Olmsted, no matter where you received the Sacraments, all documentation is entered on the Records in the Church you were baptized in.... ( In our example St Patricks on Bridge would be the place to contact for all the above information) For this reason, that is why when Catholics receive any of the Sacraments, it is always asked where you were Baptized.... Hope this helps. Also in the early days of Cleveland, the families went to the Parish of their Ethnic Background, would travel miles past the closest German church to go to the Irish Catholic Church... Sharon

    3. You have to know the parish. Chris Krossel who is the head archivisit at the Cleveland Diocese can help you determine probably which parish they belonged to. She has done a chart showing which churches started and when. Can determine by the address of your ancestors probably the church they would have attended. This is how I found where mine and which church they went to. Carole Lubbers, Marietta, Ga. researching Willard: Tuscarawas, Stark, Summit, Portage & Henry Counties, Ohio Immel: Burlaswagen, Germany to Holmes Co., Ohio Thomas G. 1. 1850 census
    2. Janet
    3. Hi folks, I just wanted to let you all know that I will be going through the 1850 census one more time in the next week. I have all of Cuyahoga County and will be happy to search for your relatives along with mine. If you've already asked me, you don't need to ask again unless you think I may have forgotten you. I know I've been a bit remiss in getting back to all of you. I just discovered that my ancestor William Mahoney arrived in the U.S. in 1850, so I want to go through and check for him. Then I will finally move on to a more serious search of the 1870 census. If you want me to look up family members you think might have been in Cuyahoga County in 1850, please give me as much info as you have ... especially first names and spouses names if you know them. I am doing this in my free time and must copy all the entries longhand and then type them out when I email them to you ... so please don't ask me for everyone named "Smith". I own the copies of the microfilm, but must use the library to read it and make copies so if I find something for you and you want the actual images for your records, I will send you the actual copies if you want to pay $.10 per page plus postage which I have to pay the library for the copies. Otherwise, I will just transcribe what I find and I will do that for no charge. --Janet

    3. I don't know about that. You probably caught them at a time when it was slow. I sent $20.00, SASE and request to St. Augustines back in February, following up with Chris Krossel 3 months later, she replied, and I am still waiting and it's almost August. 1. Marriages
    2. Janet........Chances are good that if your family members married in Cleveland in the 1860 and 1870's, there will be a copy of the license at the Cuyahoga Co. Archives. It will have the name of the clergy that married them and that helps the archivist at the diocese office determine which parish. In case you don't know, the county archives has email and they look up information for you.....Pat email: [email protected] (Judith Cetina, Mgr) phone: 216-443-7250

    3. > I just sent a letter to the diocese and $15.00 and got the answers within 5 > days. I guess the money helped. I also sent them $15 on June 21. When I phoned yesterday the woman told me that my request was still sitting in a huge pile of requests they had recently received. Perhaps it's the Internet, perhaps it's just the summer season. Anyway, I think I will contact them again later in the summer or early fall to try to find out from them who else is buried in the plot and discover where my gr gr grandmother is buried if she's not in any of their cemeteries. Gr gr grandfather is in St. John's and gr grandfather is in Calvary. --Janet

    1. Calvary
    2. Janet......The person at Calvary could have told you who was buried in that plot. They gave me a list of 9 people in addition to the person that I was looking for. And it was over the phone. I guess it depends on which person you talk to or whether or not they want to be bothered. I've never had a problem getting information from the Diocese. Do you have any addresses for the people you are searching for? That would probably help them to decide what parish they belonged to......Pat
