Barb, Thank you:) Thank you Susan Ward HAPPY HUNTING! SEARCHING --------- WARD, RETTBERG, MICHEL, CHRISTENSON, BEUCUS
I am looking for relatives of Patrick "Soldier" Patton. He was born in Ireland, probably Co. Mayo, in 1862. Patrick had an older brother Antony, born in 1850, and married a Mary Sweeney in Pulranny, Co. Mayo. The notorious James "Shimmy" Patton was their son. Patrick married Bridget Corrigan of Clougmore Co. Mayo , June 13, 1894 at St. Malachi's Church. Patrick was supposed to have a twin sister who married into the Joyce family. There has to be more brothers and sisters but I can't seem to find them. Anyone familiar with this family? Lee Patton Brennan
Looking for any information about this family. Gannon who came from County Mayo.
Roscommon and Athlone - What beautiful places. We don't match up to any of your names, but we have been to Ireland and spent a lot of time in the library in Athlone and in the fortress across the street. A lovely town and very, very friendly. -----Original Message----- From: Jacqueline Pearce Downen <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Monday, February 19, 2001 11:33 AM Subject: Re: OH-CLEVELAND-IRISH-D Digest V01 #10 >Hi Tom, I saw your post regarding the name Ward. Hi Susan, I can't answer your question but I was wondering whether we have communicated concerning our ward line. My great-grandparents, Michael Ward ( approx. b. 1840) and Catherine Carr were from Donegal and my grandfather John (1866) was born in Leagans, County Donegal. He emigrated to U.S. along with his older brother Patrick. In addition, there were at least 3 other siblings: Mary, Bernard and Michael. Don't know if those three emigrated. Susan, Some counties do. You might try www.genuki.org.uk/ and check the Ireland files. Also try http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/index/Ireland.html or connect to the Irish County mailing lists. I know County Wicklow has some records online. Some general searches by County name might also help. Hi List.....Looks like in the future we'll be able to access the Necrology File on line. I asked if it would be an index or actual obits.....they replied actual obits....that'll be great once it gets on line. Just wanted to share this with everyone. Also, back on Veterans Day I download a Vietnam Wall Memorial Screen Saver....at the time it didn't occur to me the valuable genealogy data that can be obtained from it. You can actually search the wall from your computer by name or even my "todays birthdays".....I checked it out yesterday when I realized the genealogy value of it but it seems to be under construction but will soom be back in service. The one I downloaded still works so if anyone wants me to do a search just let me know.....there was over 100 servicemen from Cleveland. I'll have to get back to you on the exact website address. ----- Original Message ----- From: Anne Kelly To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, 23 January 2001 7:23 Subject: John Whitehead BYRON I am trying to trace the family of Colonel John Whitehead Byron of the 88th New York regiment. At the end of the Civil War he returned to Ireland briefly where he was arrested in September 1865 but eventually released and went back to the US. I believe he applied for an invalid pension in 1879 and his widow, Mary Ann, applied for a widow's pension in June 1909 from Ohio. Thank you, Anne Kelly

Good question! I think that John came through NY-- he met & married Brigid LAughren somehwere other than Cleve., in 1862, and I know she entered at NY. A second set of Allens, John, wife Alice McLAughlin, Thomas & his wiofe Brigid, came through Canada, since one son was born there. This second set of Allens did not arrive until the 1870's. David, It probably was Ward 14 in 1880, if the current Lester St. is the old Lester St. Jim O'Donnell David Paul Meyer wrote: > Hello, > Katherine Irene Sullivan's birth certificate has an address of birth as > being Lester Street (road) Cleveland, Ohio. All Cleveland Irish; WOOD(S) arrived in the 1850's in Cleve. ALLENS arr. 1862 or so; MARTIN & MILLIFF by 1865; CUMMINS-- 2 sets of those-- Maurice & Michael, between 1860-70. Any conenctions? Judith
Hello, Katherine Irene Sullivan's birth certificate has an address of birth as being Lester Street (road) Cleveland, Ohio. Since the censuses are in political wards back then it might help my search if I can place Lester St. in a particular ward, in 1880, to start. I've been trying to find a political map of the area to narrow it down. At the present time Lester St is just south east of the intersection of I-490 and I-77 near exit 161 of I-77. Can anyone tell me what ward this would have been in 1880, or, steer me to a map that would show it? I would really appreciate not having to go through 4 microfilms! :-) I am seeking the family of Jeremiah Sullivan and his wife Margaret Harrington who were married before 1855 in Cleveland, or, shortly before coming there. Also the family of James Michael Clark and his wife Ann Clark (maiden name) who were also married before 1855 in Cleveland, or, shortly before coming there. All of the children of these folks were born in Cleveland. Thank you! Yours truly, David, on the central coast, California, USA
