I don't find a Thomas Taylor that fits your description in 1900. There is a Willie Taylor in Kirkwod 1900, age 47 married 3 years and he is a carpenter, wife Malissa, step son Maywood, daughter born 1-1898, don't know the name for sure, the index has it as Frank. Everything seems to fit except the name and no son named Thomas. Have you found Thomas in any census other than 1880.
