Joyce, My 1880 index isn't showing any results for Herman KAHL, KAHLE or a wild card search using Kahl* in Butler Co. or anywhere in OH. This was the closest I could find but Herman is listed as a widower. Herman Kahl, born 1831 in Hanover, widower, living in Will County, IL with daughter Mary 19 b. OH, daughter Anna 18 b. OH, son John 15 b. OH, son Fred 12, b. OH Son Adam 8, b. IL and son W.M. 6, b. IL Have you checked the 1880 census online at _www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) ? Sometimes they give more spelling variants for the name than the Soundex index can pick up. It's also possible they were missed altogether by the census taker. He died Sept. 28, 1887 of Typhoid Fever. He was a machinist makes reapers. He married Catherine Mary or Mary Catherine Stahl Deinzer on Sept 3,1868 . Catherine Mary or Mary Catherine Stahl on March 24,1843 in Hamilton Butler County OHIO married Michael Deinzer/Denzer/Denger. She was born in 1824 in Bavaria Germany. She died April 11, 1897 of stomach cancer. She is buried at the Greenwood Cemetery Hamilton Butler County Ohio. After Michael’s death she married Herman Kahl on Sept 3,1868 in Butler County OHIO. Michael Denzer; 37; M; Laborer; Assets $800; b.Germany. Catherine; 24; F; b.Germany. Mary; 6; F;b.OH. Catherine; 4; F; b.OH. Herman Kahl is listed in the 1870 census with Catherine and her daughter Anna Maria "Mary " Deinzer age 23. There was another step daughter Catherine Caroline or Carolyn who was born about 1847 according to the 1850 census. (Denzer or Denger) I searched the 1880 census with various names first names last names etc but could not come up with anything. Maybe someone else can give me an idea of how to find them. I could not even find Anna Maria "Mary " Deinzer Decker who was a widow of Casper Decker in the 1880 census. In 1892 she was living on Stephen St. in the Hamilton Directory. I believe this was in the second ward of Hamilton. Thanks, Any help would be appreciated or any ideas . Joyce
Thanks Marilyn, But this can not be him because he was born in Hanover in 1827. He died in 1887 of typhoid fever and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton OHIO. He married Catherine Mary Stahl Deinzer a widow of Michael Deinzer in Butler County 1868 in Ohio. She died in 1897 in Hamilton. I did check the familysearch.org for the different spellings of last name, also did first names only of both as well as Catherine's daughter Anna Maria "Mary "Deinzer who was then a widow of Casper Decker. I tried all names but no success. I even went through one by one household in ward 1,2, and 3 . It just seems strange that both families could not be found in this census of 1880. Thanks for trying Joyce ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2006 3:18 PM Subject: Re: [OH-CENSUS] 1880 census/Butler County/ Kahl/Kahle > > Joyce, > > My 1880 index isn't showing any results for Herman KAHL, KAHLE or a wild > card search > using Kahl* in Butler Co. or anywhere in OH. > > This was the closest I could find but Herman is listed as a widower. > > Herman Kahl, born 1831 in Hanover, widower, living in Will County, IL with > daughter > Mary 19 b.
