Another kind lister has suggested this family in the 1870: Ironton, Lawrence Co OH Theodore Custer 50, coal digger, Holland Germany Gertrude 49, Holland Germany John 19 George 15 Mary 13 William 11 Anna 9 Henry 6 Theodore 4 all children born Ohio except for John who was also born in Holland. I did some digging around on Rootsweb, and sure enough, this family was actually Coster, not Custer. I do believe this is the correct family for George.
