Hi Terri, Thanks so much for your great lookup and reply. If this is the right John Wheeler, he has remarried. I am really interested in Barnabas McCall from Harrison Co. VA, who got a land patent in Olive township in 1826. He was in Olive Township, Morgan County in 1830 and we can't find any more on him. John Wheeler married Tabitha McCall in Harrison Co. Va in 1824. A John Wheeler from Morgan Co. OH got a land patent in 1835 for land which lays next to that of Barnabas McCall. We think that Tabitha McCall was a daughter of Barnabas. There is another land to patent to John Wheeler from Morgan Co. OH in 1837 for land a short distance from the above. It is possible that there are 2 John Wheelers. If you find anything or have any ideas where I could look, I would really appreciate it. Hi Diane, Since this is such a large family, it is an impossible request to find them all for over 100 years at once. It is most helpful to state when and where the people were born, so we know their ages and where to start looking. It is OK to make two requests per day. After searching all Sturgis and Sturges in OH, I looked at a couple of possibles and found this family in 1870. 06-20-1870 Hamilton Co, OH; Springfield Twp, Glendale PO, p618, family #569 William Sturges, 51, OH, $700 real estate, $100 pers prop, common laborer Mary, 49, OH, $300 real estate, keeping house Presson, 18, OH, works on canal boat Hanson B, 16, OH, common laborer Mary A, 16, OH, helps mother I don't have indexing for 1850. In 1860 there are no Sturgis indexed in Ohio. There were 23 Sturges, but no William. You can search this site for them in the 1880 census. I found this family submitted. Just enter William Sturgis and Susan Ludlow in the search box. http://www.familysearch.org/ I hope this helps get you started. Fleta, Terri found John WHEELER in Morgan as you requested. GenWeb lists a Tabitha WHEELER age 47 in Jasper Co IN in 1850 (page 265a) with Lewis 23, Nathaniel, 22, Elizabeth 14 & Charlotte 12. I don't have access to census so can't give further. There may be many John & Tabitha Wheelers in 1950 but mention this Tabitha to you because she is close in age to the person you seek. Paula, I found no Leonard DeCook or Cook in OH in 1900. I tried several spellings of first and last names in his age group, born in Ohio. John is the only DeCook indexed in Ohio in 1900.
