I'm looking for a Susannah Moore living in Clinton Co. Her husband Isaac Moore died early in 1840 and she died at the end of 1840. I am trying to see if they had any children. She would be 28 years old. I realize that if she is living with another relative she would not be listed. Diane, Thank you for looking up Leonard DeCook and family in 1900 (and other years). Those were the ones I had found too, it makes you wonder what the census taker did with my family in 1870?? I am also quite sure they were in Cincinnati in 1870 but so far no-one has been able to locate them for me. In 1870, Leonard would still be living at home (age 14). I will be doing some additional research and then - if it gives any new clues - repost at some point. I would bet that people tried looking this up and found nothing. I spent an hour or two trying myself under every spelling, place, and age. She is not there that we can tell. Do you have any more clues to find her? RC
In 1880 they were in Washington twp. but by 1910 they were in Campbell County Ky. so I guess I will check there. Thanks for looking, Rose
Diane, Diana has already made a thorough search and given very good advice but may I make an observation? Online researchers seem to agree that (1) Susan T. Ludlow was the daughter of William D. Ludlow a pioneer of Hamilton Co and that he is buried there. (2) A researcher states that there is an extensive sketch about Mr Ludlow in the History of Hamilton Co. It indicates also that he was an active member of The Christian Church. Diane I'd suggest you look at this Illustrated History of Hamilton for clues to William Sturgis I'd suggest also you check records of the cemetery where William Ludlow is buried to see if William Sturgis is also there. Lastly, I'd check to see if there is a repository for the records of The Christian Church to which Mr Ludlow belonged. Beverlee ----- Original Message ----- From: "D. Hello Juliann: I was surprised when I read your query on the 1850 OH Census Look-up re: Barbara Meyer. For some time I had been trying to find out about a name I saw on the 1880 Census for Colerain, Hamilton County, Ohio. Living in the household of my maternal great grandfather, John Gaiser ( born 1829 in Walddorf, Tübingen, Schwarzwald, Wurttemburg, Germany), was Barbara Meyer, born 1802 in Wurttemburg, Germany, a widow living with her daughter (John's second wife, Dorothea Linz, whom he married in 1874, after my maternal great grandmother, Wilhelmina Hine died in 1871). Barbara's 17 year old grand-daughter, Caroline Linz (born 1863 in OH) also lived in the household. The census says that Caroline's father was from Wurttemberg and her mother was born in OH. Although the age is wrong for Barbara Meyer, I have found in past research that she was the widow of Henry Meyer. I wonder if this Barbara Meyer (b. 1802) also had a daughter Barbara Meyer who may have died or if actually the daughter's name was Dorothea Linz). If so, this could be the one you were looking for. I have found many errors in the census and other records, especially where the interviewee did not have good command of the English language (as German was most often spoken in the home in that time period). Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you. Kindest regards, Judy Hughes judyh@dnet.net You can easily find this information by going to www.familysearch.org Search for Ancestors, and enter the name Barbara Meyer, Birth year 1802, and the 1880 Census for Ohio listing should come up. Click on her name and you should be directed to Family History Library Film 1255022, NA Film Number T9-1022, page 48D.

Hi Diane, We need you to pick one year and repost. Most people find it easier to start with something like the 1930 (which is an every name index on Ancestry as is 1860, 1870 and 1880) and work backward but you can start anywhere you would like. We request one year at a time because we don't all have access to all the years and by doing it one at a time so each volunteer knows immediately which ones they can do the lookup for and it also becomes confusing as to which year has been answered and which hasn't in a multiple post of years. Items that help us in the lookups besides location are names, ages, and places of birth of family members you might expect to find in the household. We also request only one or two posts a day. We look forward to helping you find your family. Rose ----- Original Message ----- > Hello , I'm new to this list ! In great need of any info on the Sturgis family ! Hi everyone, I sent a message requesting this information a week ago and got no response, so I thought I'd give it another shot in case it got lost in the shuffle: I am looking the surname LINZ (or LINZE or LENZ) either an individual or family, in Hamilton County. More specifically for a Barbara LINZ (or LINZE or LENZ), or a family with her as a member. She would be about 20 years old, born in Bavaria, Germany. I do not know the names of her parents or any siblings or whether or not they emigrated with her. All I know is that she and her husband had their first child in Cincinnati in 1852. I believe I have found him in the 1850 census as a single man. There probably aren't many LINZ households. But if there are too many to check, I’d be happy with just a list of the surname from the index with location and page numbers to give me a starting point. Thank you. Hi Rose, Sorry to say that they are still not coming up in the index. Is it possible that they were living in another Badgley household-like an adult son or Ira's father? This index is by head of household only so if they are within another Badgley household their names will not come up in the index. It is also a possibility that they were missed in either the original census or by the indexer. Since you have them in the 1880 and 1910-were they in Clermont Co on both of those census years? If yes, was it the same township? Rose ----- Original Message ----- > Ira would be abt.45 and Fannie abt. 43. Ira and Fannie both born in Ohio. > One child would be Ferman. I cant find them anywhere.
