I agree that the ages could have been supplied by outsiders, etc. (Thanks for pointing that out!) The point I was trying to make was that there were two George Wolheter/Woolheater listings in 1850 & the one in Union Township "fitted" with 1840 information better than the one in Eagle Township ... :-) Jeannie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kitty Kutchmark" <kutchmark@1st.net> To: <OH-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 29, 2004 1:43 PM Subject: Re: [OH-CENSUS] Copies of Census ??? | does this help any? | Please disregard the apparent errors in census' where ages appear off a | little due to census takers errors, misinformation given by the people, | or the fact the census was actually taken in July or August, but was | instructed to identify the people who were actually living at that | residence effective January 1st. Not to start an argument, Sue, but that does not explain the children's ages. If George & Christina were married in 1837, how is the child Mary age 14 in 1850? This would mean that she was born before the union ... And I see by looking up the 1840 Census of Hancock Co. that a 'Geo. Woolheter' was listed in Union Township: males age 5 & under 10 = 1 males age 20 & under 30 = 1 females age under 5 = 2 females age 5 & under 10 = 1 females age 10 & under 15 = 1 females age 30 & under 40 = 1 ============ I found a 'George Woolheter' also listed in Union Township in 1850: ... Notice that they have several boys, while the other family next door to Sr. only has the one in 1850. I understand that the name is written as Woolheater, but I am trying to find out if this could be a mistake. I cannot seem to locate the George (Jr.) Woolheater family in 1860 ... There is a 'George Wolhetter' listed as a groom on page 86 of the "Marriage Records of Hancock County, Ohio -- 1828 thru 1864," compiled by the Hancock County Chapter, Ohio Genealogical Society (1986). The wedding date is 30 July 1837 & the bride is listed as 'Christina Smals'. On the same page is a groom with the name 'George Woolheter' who married 'Susannah Fellers' on 21 Sept 1843. That does not sound like it could be shortened to Lotty or Letty; but I guess it could be a nickname ... ----- Original Message ----- From: "ksremark" <kskramer@wcoil.com> To: <OH-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 28, 2004 9:49 AM Subject: Re: [OH-CENSUS] Copies of Census ??? | Jeanne | Yes I have seen the census page and the | person is George Woolheater Jr. | He was living next door to his parents | George Woolheater SR. Hi Frances, I did a check on Ancestry and found a world tree submitted on Sidney listing his parents as Jasper Brewster and Theodosia Lyman and siblings Jasper, Marshall, Emmerson & Mary Amanda and the submitter has that they lived in Madison twp, Lake Co when the father Jasper passed away prior to the 1830 census. In checking --Lake Co did not become a county until Mar of 1840 and it was formed from parts of Geauga and Cuyahoga counties. So perhaps Sidney is in one of these Brewster households in Geauga Co for 1830. 1830, OH, Geauga Co, Madison twp, pg 189; Jasper Brewster, head; Males; 1 in age 10 - 15; 1 in age 20 - 30; 2 in age 30 - 40; Females; 1 in age 20 - 30; 1 in age 50 - 60; end of this household. 1830, OH, Geauga Co, Madison twp, pg 193; Calbin (as indexed but it looks like Calvin) Brewster, head; Males; 1 under 5; 1 in age 30 - 40; Females; 1 in age 5 - 10; 1 in age 20 - 30; 1 in age 30 - 40;; end of this household. 1840, Lake Co, Madison twp, pg 136; Jasper Brewster, head; Males; 1 in age under 5; 1 in age 5 - 10; 1 in age 10 - 15; 2 in age 40 - 50; Females; 2 in age 5 - 10; 1 in age 30 - 40; 1 in age 60 - 70; end of this household. 1840, Lake Co, Madison twp, pg 145; Alvin (as indexed and written) Brewster, head; Males; 2 in age 15 - 20; 1 in age 40 - 50; Females; 1 in age 5 - 10; 1 in age 15 - 20; 1 in age 40 - 50; end of this household. Also listed in the index for 1840 are; Emmerson W. in Lake Co, Madison, pg 136; Marshal (as indexed) , Lake Co, Perry twp, pg 132; If they are of interest to you, you can repost. I did not find any other Brewster's listed in the 1830 in Geauga Co. Hope this helps. Hello guys, I am trying to make a connection for a possible cousin. I have a Charles Wechter in my family tree who possibly ties into her Charles A Wechter. Kepp in mind either way this will help her out. Her Charles A Wechter was born June 1888 in OH and I am wondering if anyone could do a lookup in the 1900 OH census for me and her. --Andrew --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Andrew, I am sending indexing, maybe something will seem familiar. In 1900 Charles b 1888 would be about 12 years old. He would not be indexed as would the head of household. Do you know who his parents were or where they were born? Any further information may help in the search. Thanks, Diana (Here is indexing for possible Charles Wechter's.) Hi Jacquelyn, Hope this is your family. They are indexed under Herth but after looking at the page it is very possible it is Hiett and given the kids names it appears to be the ones you are looking for. I will use the name Herth for the reading since that is how they are indexed. 1850, OH, Brown Co, Huntington twp, pg 116, taken Sept 24; 2 households-=side by side; Samuel Herth, age 49, farmer, $5675, b. VA; Sarah, age 46, b. VA; Ellen, age 22, b. OH; William, age 20, farmer, b. OH; Samuel, age 18, farmer, b. OH; Griffith, age 16, farmer, b. OH; Isabell, age 14, b. OH; Ruth, age 12, b. OH; John, age 10, b. OH; Sarah, age 6, b. OH; James, age 4, b. OH; Amanda, age 1, b. OH; Mary Herth, age 65, b. Va; next door; John Herth, age 77, farmer, b. Va; Sarah, indexed as 80 but is blurry and could be 70, b. Va; John, age 46, farmer, b. VA; Thornton, age 40, farmer, b. OH; Andrew J., age 22 or 27, farmer, b. OH; Eliza, age 32, b. OH; Arrabell, age 30, b. OH; Sarah, age 26, b. OH; Sarah Ann, age 11, b. OH; Amanda, age 4 or 9, b. OH; end of this household. There is a Simeon Hiett listed in Brown Co, Byrd twp, pg 74 if he is of interest to you. Hope this helps.
